044 main battery low

hello all, having an issue with my game king giving the main battery low message after putting in a fresh tested coin cell, tested before installing at 3.3v, after in the holder, it meters at 2.5v and the message appears after start up. pulled tray back out, grabbed, tested and installed another battery, same result. pulled again, cleaned holder surface, reinstalled, same result again. any suggestions ??

You probably have a short somewhere on the mpu, do you have another mpu to try.

does your mpu still have the varta battery.  Battery damage from leaked fluid has also known to cause these kinds of issues.

Might be something similar to this thread, although the solution is for a 3902 board, you might want to fish around the components close to the battery and trace voltages

still no luck on finding what is drawing a fresh battery down , with board out for a couple days , battery meters at 1.9v now , so something on the mpu for sure.

Put in a fresh battery and remove the RAM chips, see if battery voltage still drops after a day.
