Trying to get BV to work.
« on: March 11, 2024, 11:29:00 AM »
I have a new to me IGT S2000 3 reel that has a disconnected bill acceptor. I do not see any connections that I can connect the pig tail to. What am I missing and where can I get it from?

S plus, not a S2000. See pic.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Trying to get my bill validator (DBV-200) to work. When I turn the machine on, it runs and make some noises like it is getting power. The lights in the yellow $1 to $100 face display do not come on (I did check the light bulbs and install ones that worked). I can see a red light inside where the bills goes. I also made sure that the cash can is pushed in all the way, and the transport is seated and sitting on the bottom of the shelf assembly, red handle all the way up. The door optics work and the insert coin comes on when the door is closed.

I checked the options and found that the option for the BV is enabled . The ROM is SP731. The firmware looks to have been updated at one time. There is a sticker that says that it will take new $20.

This is a new to me machine that does work with quarters.

New $20 could have been when they went from small face bills to large face ones!  Use $1 bills to test when you don't know what the firmware is and will accept.  The $1 bill hasn't changed and will work in even the oldest of validators.  That eliminates the firmware from being the reason for not accepting a bill.

Did you also set a valid denomination when you enabled the validator? The bezel lamp will be lit when the bill validator is enabled and ready to accept a bill.

I also tested with a $1 bill.

No, I did not set a denomination value. I'm still trying to understand how the option menu works and what to change. Jim walked me through on how to see if the BV was turned on. This I will work on today.

Looks like I need a SET 15 chip. Where can I get this file from?

EDIT: I did get to 27 0 and the light for the yellow $1 to $100 face display did light up.

No...It's just that everybody comes on here looking for chips, I always direct them to RB.
Sorry if you thought I was kidding...  :duh:

On another note, you have to set the denomination of your machine as well, when enabling the BV when using a SET015.
The machine needs to know the value of a credit...whether it's a quarter, or a penny, etc, etc.

I have tried to find a way to see what the denomination is set to, but I have failed.  :banghead:

Open the door, turn on the power switch.
Find your little white Test button in your cabinet.
It can be located on the front of the power switch box, behind it, or down on front of the MPU enclosure box under the door harness connector - depending on which cabinet you have.

Press the little white Test button steadily about 12 times, until you see the number "6" in the [Coins Played] window on the reel glass display.
Above the number six, in the [Credits] window, should be the machine's denominational value of one credit

Thank you Bunker. I must have been doing it right after all, but I was not sure. The value in the credit window is 5, not 1. Does this indicate a problem?

You don't understand.
I said the number in the credit window will equal the value of one, single credit....not meaning a "penny".
In your case, your denomination is set as one credit will equal a nickel.
Your machine is fine.

Remember, when you're setting the denomination of a machine, you are giving credits...a value.

Ah, gotcha. So the bill validator setting are good then. Dang! I was hoping that was going to be the problem. Could the BV be bad itself then?

EDIT: In the test menu (27) the BV will take and give back the dollar bill. So that's not the problem.

Your biil entry bezel still isn't lighting up, and it's still not taking bills.
Why not throw the head in a box, and send it to Jim to look at?
One of two things are going to happen.
He will either fix it, or sell you a working head.

An update to the thread. I did a clear and set15. The BV now lights up at boot up. The BV will not accept money, it will take, then spit out the dollar or $20 bill. Getting closer!  :drool04:
