Bally MPU with BIOS 12118A ???
« on: April 09, 2015, 10:41:26 PM »
Hi everyone,

Got this Bally MPU and not sure what it's good for.
Found it in the middle of the MPU Compatibility Matrix page 3.

MPU # 209194

Description: 1 GHz IMPU, write enabled, download only
Board: PCA204934-1-0
BOIS: 12118A
Clear Chip: 20176E
OS: 3.0021 NY

It has a video card and (2) 1 GB DDR Ram modules installed.
Was hoping I could use it in my S9000 or my M9000.
Any information would be cool.
Not having any luck finding a clear CF card that works.
Screen just says the card isn't recognized.

Will this MPU play any good games?
Was hoping I could play the HeeHaw Scatter game on it.
Thanks a Ton,

Todd

Bump:

Here's a photo of the Bally Alpha BIOS chip:

I'm going to replace it with:

AVBBP26SIMPU-07 - 16MEG

Hope it doesn't explode......

Should be able to peel back the label on top of chip a little and read it. Heat the label with a blow dryer and it will come up easier. Also you can insert the chip into an eprom programmer and it should be able to id it, most have a chip id feature.

The sticker peeled off very easily. Didn't need any heat.
The chip is exactly as you said Rick:

M27C160

Just not sure what it's designed for?
Is there a particular Bally Alpha game that uses this chip/BIOS?

I ordered a: AVBBP26SIMPU-07 - 16MEG
from jjslots.

I have a clear CF card (335) and an operating system card (AVOS000000341-05) that should work.
Hoping I can get a game to work on this MPU.
Thanks for all the input,

Todd
