Have a bally 5000

i did a clear ram and now i just all the counters go haywire and keep couting up and it wont stop..

i get no error codes on the lcd...

reels 1 and 2 jitter a little and reel 3 just dose nothing.....

Any help on why the counters just go crazy would be good..

I have never seen this happen before..

I would check power supply volts and do ram clear again. I have a couple 5000 units and they are a little touchy at times.

Dose any one have a manual for the bally 5000???

and the voltage out puts from the power supply?

yes i did.. the only 5000 manual was the how to clear it..

there is v5000 and 5000 plus manual but no 5000

+5volts DC
+12volts DC
-12volts DC
+24volts DC

Ok.. here it is..

was up and working great.... now it quit working and the reels just spin..

tryed to do a clear on it by moving the jumper 15 to 14 and it showed cl

did it a couple times and still just the reel spin and thats it..

im geting all the right votages on the power supply...

i have tryed turning the reset key with the door open and closed no change....

the reels never stop spining..

any help???

Here are some pic on the machine...

More things i tryed...

I pulled the battery and let it sit over night and then replaced it...

It came up with a 83 ROM ERROR.

i did a clear again by moving jumpers from 15 to 14

it showed it cleared by showing cl p

then it came back up with a 82 error then i turn reset key

then the reels just keep spinning and never stop....

If i turn the 5 volts down below 5 v then the reels will stop..... but nothing works,

any help please...

I have a complete 5000 troubleshooting manual but it is 13Mb in size and to large for NLG.

email me and let me know if your email server can handle files larger than 10 Mb.

BTW the 5 volts needs to be 5.16V for the board to work in most machines.

You can also clear the machine by pulling the I/O board out part way so the back edge connector is disconnected (but the front ribbon cables stay). Turn the machine on and it should do a full clear.

Jumper manipulation not needed for the above method.

Turn it back off before plugging the I/O board in.

LEAVE THE DOOR OPEN with power on and let the reels do their entire dance, watch for a 50 code and the reels have stopped before closing the door.

A premature door closure after a clear will put the machine in BS land.
Don't turn the reset key for any reason except a jackpot hand pay.

Ok now I get a 82 error when turning it on. New battery reading 3.6v.
Just sits there at 82. If I turn jack pot key it goes to 4 space 8 in winners payed ...

What kind of battery did you put in?

If it was a rechargeable Varta type then there is no mod, if you put in a non rechargeable button or Lithium battery then there needs to be some mods to the board.

Read the DC battery voltage right at the RAM chips and see if you are getting the battery voltage on them.

They are the two long 24 pin narrow IC's under the right edge of the piggyback board with the EPROM's on it.

Remove the MPU board and turn it over to read the voltage.

Negative lead on pin 12 and positive lead on pin 24, you should read over 3VDC.

There is also a battery enable jumper on the board just to the left of the battery to the right of the left edge connector if the edge connectors are facing away from you, make sure it is jumpered.

Worst case send the board to Larry, he has a test station to test the board. 702-363-9998
