I stumbled on 3 video poker machines today that were posted on Letgo. Ad said 3 video poker games $100. I figured what the heck and contacted the seller. He got them from a neighbor last fall whoâ€™s Grandfather had passed away. He couldnâ€™t figure out how to fix them so they had to go. I was told and I saw a picture of one powered on to a working screen. I think they are PE because of the single board.. They are parts complete but filthy. All the buttons are stuck from years of spilled drinks. Looking forward to getting them home on Friday to actually see what I bought. All 3 for only $100..

I didnâ€™t see any labels when I was there today, but they look like the ones pictured. For a $100 I wasnâ€™t walking away. I figure I can at least double my money. If not itâ€™s like throwing down a $100 on a craps table or Black Jack. Some you win and some you loose. Iâ€™m due for a Win.

Pete Mandis (sp) was a engineer who designed many different products for the gaming industry.

I remember being called to the Bingo palace casino to help get a roulette type prize wheel going.
His trademark was to design really large PC boards and layout the board by hand, no PC, with traces but no solder mask.
The wheel had a single board that was 2' x 2'.

We got a bank of his poker machines at the Pioneer in Laughlin, All slant tops.
Some stranger confided to the owner that he could show him how to get a royal flush by cheating the game.
He bet him some serious money he could do it.
The owner agreed and all the guy did was pull the plug on a machine then plug it back in.
Bet max and a royal was hit on the first hand.
The machines were removed the next day.

After looking at your original photos. I can see part of the label on one that " & CO". As, you said 3 for $100. I would have purchased them too. We will all look forward to your restoration post.

Not sure if Iâ€™ll try to build a cabinet, or get them running and sell them like that and let someone else decide what and where you want it.

If it were me. I would fix and sell as is. Unless you personally wanted to keep any then I would consider a cabinet. I think it would be more effort then you would get in return if you sell.

Yum... They will smell worse than a wet dog when you hose them down.

Just don't let them splash back into your mouth.

Just a quick up date on the cleaning and restoration of the P&M Cideo Poker Bartop. Still has a few glitches to resolve like a hold button thatâ€™s hard to work and a burnt out hold bulb. The monitor comes on slower then I like, but once on itâ€™s not a bad picture. Just a little ghosting. All in all Iâ€™m pleased and now have a game I can use to test the other parts with.

They need a cabinet built or a bar to install one in. Cleaned up pretty good. What really helped was a quick coat of aluminum color spray paint.

Just a quick up date since these are a work in progress. Shortly after my last post, I fired up the restored poker game only to find out that this one is now dead? Figured out that the 5V part of the PS had died. With help from a friend I was able to purchase a new after market 5V PS module from Jameco. Once I figured out how I wanted to mount it to the old chassis is was just a matter of converting the wiring to modern molex plugs. I now have my 5V power back and adjusted the powers output under load the 5.16V and my games back working. I also got the second game, the $1.00 version to come back to life with its own new PS installed. I hopefully will be seeing if I can get the third one running very soon.

That's great to see the progress!

And I loved that story about the Pioneer, from Badbaud above in reply #6. We should appreciate that a few of our members have some amazing historical knowledge of early slot machines.

Badbaud is the person who has helped me with this PS. I wanted to try to rebuild the old one, but I was basically told to buy an after market one.
