Is it possible to find 044 tray and mpu with the superstar poker flash attached if your machine already had a 044 backplane?  If so could you just plug it in and have it ready to play or would you still need to do setup?  About how much would it be?  Where could you find one?

There is a memory chip/eprom on the backplane that stores your game info the needs to be cleared on a game change. Changing out the flash board or even the whole MPU tray requires setting up the cabinet...

Do a search here on NLG and there is a lot of chatter on this topic.  The 044 is easy to setup. The flash boards are static sensitive, be careful!

The vendors on the home/main page can fix you up with all you need...

In theory yes...

I personally have never done a game change that way.  Search NLG and there is info on guys that do.

It takes me less than 5 minutes to change out a flash board and set up my cabinet.

I guess it all comes to your personal choice...

So that’s what I was wondering, so it doesn’t really save any time.  It’s just as easy to change out the flash board as it is to just switch trays.  Either way you have to use the 28 key to clear and get it up and running when switching?

Yes.  Swap out the MPU tray and the EEPROM on the backplane as one unit and you'll retain all your settings and credits.  You will have to do an initial setup for each one though. 

Superstar poker has a lot of different games and options and can take some time to get setup the way you want it.  It's not something you'd want to do every time you change games.  The backplane EEPROMs are cheap and if you install it in a socket and then put the socket in the motherboard socket is easy to change with your fingers. 

Key 28 is the one you need for 044 flash boards.

depends on the backplane(or motherboard) if it has a removable eeprom or if it is soldered in. if it is removable just get a handful of eeproms and store them with the flash boards.

Superstar poker has a lot of different games and options and can take some time to get setup the way you want it.  It's not something you'd want to do every time you change games.

@Tilt, I must be doing something wrong setting up my Superstar Poker? Is there a "default" package? When I set mine up I never change out any options and I'm set up in 5 minutes. I have all the games I expect. I have gone in and found some individual game settings but never change them.  Am I missing something???

The defaults are what you get if you don't customize them.  I usually use 5 denominations and you have to set the games and paytables you want available for each one.  Take that and multiply it by all the different games it has (Poker, 3X/5X/10X Pay, Spin Poker, Super X Pay, etc) and it takes me a lot longer than 5 minutes.  That's just for the game/denomination setup, then you still have SAS settings, Credit Limits, etc.

An I-game I could probably do in 5 mins, but not All-Star or Super-Star poker without using the default settings.
