Hi,

Novice at fixing these games, but have good background with electronics and programming.

Serial number of the game is 96432700.

When I received the game it would boot only to a red screen and stop. Two lights on top of the machine were blinking.

I removed the battery, installed a new coin cell.

I've purchased key037, key022, key044. None of the chips operate as the instructions say they should. 022 and 044 both give the error message, "The keychip you are using will not work with this machine."

Key 037 works somewhat but will not let me disable the coin hopper. I'm able to disable and then the bill validator on the screen, not able to disable anything to do with the coin hopper. I think if I was able to disable the coin hopper the machine would function.

Key 22 is the correct key for your game software. Make sure you clear any credits on the machine before trying to key it. If it still comes up with an error take a picture of it and post it.

I think I have the credits cleared but not 100% sure. Can you tell me best procedure?

wrong keychip

Yeah, I've never seen that particular error before. Usually if you use the wrong keychip it just won't enter the keychip menu when the machine reboots. Was that your Key 22 that gave that message? Did a menu appear before the error message?

I have tried key022, key040 with same results. No screen appears before error message

Well I'm puzzled. The PSR shows Key 22 is the one to use for your software and I've never seen that error before. Where did you get the keychip from? I'm wondering if possibly it had the wrong file written to it?

I'm sure the keys are OK. I got them from RB, he's been very helpful in trying to help me get the game going.

I wonder if removing the battery and starting over might help?

Ok, yeah, if you got them from RB you're good to go.

I'd try removing all the game software from the MPU and try booting it with just the keychip installed in the base chip socket. See if the keychip menu appears that way.

Remove the base chip, GME chips, PXL SIMMs, and CFG SIMM (under sound card daughterboard). Leave the sound card off too. Power it up with all those out and just the Keychip installed in the base chip socket.

There's going to be two small white labels.
I highlighted their locations with green boxes.
You have to pull off that piggyback Multimedia Lite sound card first, to be able to see the left label that's underneath it.

I'm going to bet the last four numbers are "3902" ?

Let me check a couple of things tomorrow. Looks like your everyday run of the mill 3902 Rev A MPU board though, yet the keychip doesn't like something about it.
