Gameking 044 boot issue

Any help on this one guys
The other day i turned the machine on it went through to zero checking flash then went off and started again this happened twice then game loaded and was fine
Today it booted fine and played fine so thought it must of just been a glitch
Tonight on turning it on all i get is blinking red light and usual solid amber and green leds
It wont boot up at all but the monitor has power and is backlit
Ive tried the keychip and even that wont display
Any ideas on what to check 1st?

Try replacing the boot chip with a GKB39. Sometimes that will solve boot issues. There are some specific instructions for using it. No key chip needed as it is built into the boot chip. Other than that you can try replacing the 24c256 eeprom on the mother board. I have seen those cause boot issues. If neither one of those fixes the issue I would say you have a flash board or MPU problem.

I found an old flashboard in the garage that needs reflashing but booted upto sha failure before
That didnt boot either 😩😩
Im tipping the mainboard is fried 😩😩😩😩

A 39 boot chip should get past that SHA failure if you turn off DSA & SHA checks in the options menu.

Done a search and cant find any of those 39 bootchips for sale
Do you know a supplier?


Also ill try changing the 24c256 eeprom as only a few ££ to buy

It fired up today
Weird how it works then has to be left about 12hrs till it boot again😩😩😩

Is it possible to check the correct voltage from the psu at the fuses on the backplane?


Im a novice but do have a multimeter so if possible whats the correct way to check without shorting something out

Got 12.9 volts on the left fuse
And 24 volts on the right fuse
Is that about right ?

Your +25VDC output is low.  I'm not sure if it's low enough to be the cause of your problem for certain though.

I've had problems like that when the Green Varta (telltale) battery on the board is going bad.  If you have one of those on your board and you aren't running any international games I suggest removing it.  There is a YouTube video with instructions on how to do it easily, you need to clip off one of the components along with the battery.

The board doesnt have a varta battery on it ( looks to have never had one)
Im going to order a new power supply to see if that is the issue as its the cheapest option before ordering an mpu ( potluck guess 😂😂)
Ive been looking on ebay and will a ([size=78%]IGT S2000 Enhanced MPU (CPU) (75512700) fit my machine[/size]
[/size][size=78%]It currently has a gameking enhanced mpu assy number 757044[/size]
[/size][size=78%]They look similar but it will be very costly if it wont work as shipping is a killer to the uk😩😩😩😩[/size]

No, S2000 mpu's will not work in any game kings.  You need an 044 board.
