Coin Out Jam
« on: April 13, 2020, 09:47:38 AM »
Hi all,
I’m hoping someone can help me clear the “coin out jam” from my mom’s cleopatra machine.  I’m not even sure which model IGT slot it is so hopefully this is the right forum.  I’ll include pictures of the machine and the board, as well as any stickers that might help identify it.
How I get here: My mom purchased the machine about a year ago, worked fine for 10 months then started getting random memory errors. From reading this site I figured it must be the memory battery, which I replaced.  It worked fine after that with a small idiosyncrasy, the dollar sign changed to euros, but still worked; however, my son hit the cash out button the other day and we got a “coin out jam”.  This was the first attempted “cash out” since the battery replacement.  Prior to that it would say hand pay call attendant or something and we would just have to turn the key to get it to go away.
I got into the operator menu and can see that there is a coin hopper enabled, but there is no coin hopper.  I think that’s the source of the error.  It seems I need a key chip to change that setting.  I see a ton of them for sale on ebay, but I’m not sure a) which number I need and b) which slot to put it in.
Anyway, I guess I’m hoping someone can steer me in the right direction on the following points:
-          Identifying which machine she has
-          Which key chip I need and which slot to put it in.
-          How to change the setting back to hand pay only (or even just disable the cash out button all together)
-          Bonus how to change the euro sign back to dollars
Thanks in advance!

You have an I Game. Key 17 or 37 will work. Disable the hopper & it should return to hand pay. Key 22 or 40 will also work & include the option to clear but usually won't let you into the key chip menu without doing a clear first. Not sure on the euro to dollars. US software defaults to dollars. Int'l software may have the option for USD. I can supply key chip(s). PM me if interested.

I got into the operator menu and can see that there is a coin hopper enabled, but there is no coin hopper.

That's exactly why you got the Coin out jam error message. When the cash out button was pressed the machine tried to pay from the hopper.  Since it doesn't have one it didn't see coins passing through optics on the hopper and then gives you the error message.   With the keychip you can disable it and reset the currency to USD $.  You have an international version of the software, US versions don't have options for other currencies.  If you want to the machine to handpay disable both the coin hopper and the ticket printer.  If you don't want the cash out button to work at all just pull one of the wires off the switch.

Thanks guys, the international software makes sense as from some papers that were included it used to be in a Canadian casino. I have a clear chip 40 on the way from RB.  sounds like that should take care of my problem.  I appreciate the help!

Just wanted to update the post.  I received the key chip 40 from RB and was able to reset the RAM to clear the credits and access the key menu to change the currency and turn off the coin hopper.  I think we're back to working 100%; thanks again for the help!
