Thanks for the feedback.  That probably explains why I've never seen a Ceronix door mounted LCD before.  That is pretty short sighted not to have wires sufficiently long enough to allow for the door to open correctly.  A bit late now for this idea, but if you removed the 19 pin connector from the monitor shelf would there have been enough slack then to connect the two?

Here's pictures after I extended the harness.  You can see the blue shrinkey dinks on the wire where I did extend it.

If any specific photo angles are needed let me know.

Looks good, and you did a nice job extending the wires.  Solder and heatshrink is much better than twisted wires and electrical tape or wire nuts.

Thanks, overall it fits awesome.  I didn't have to modify anything other than that harness.

I'm cheap enough to where I'll use solder / shrinks over crimps when possible!

That doesn't make any since at all that Ceronix would make the harness too short.  What were they thinking?

Agreed.  After some emails back and forth they basically said that's the way it was built.

I asked them if they had the two harnesses that were longer and I would be happy to re-pin the plugs.  Nope.

Their answer was send it back ( I pay shipping both ways ) in exchange for chassis mounted or cut / splice the wires.

I have to wonder if I'm the first person to have ever bought the door mounted from them..........Surely if anyone else had they'd have voiced the same concerns.

Here's my wells-gardner door mount LCD. Plenty of harness length.

Yeah, I don't get what Ceronix is thinking.  It would cost them virtually nothing to just build the harnesses all longer and use that same harness on chassis mounted option also.

Long story but here's the short version.

I picked this game up dead.  Mouse lived on monitor circuit board totally destroying it.  That's the main reason I bought the Ceronix.

Order Ceronix door mounted to gain cabinet space for storage.  As stated in a post earlier some wires are too short and Ceronix basically says that's the way it is.

Since installing it I would randomly lose Green or Red.  I figured I need to go through my motherboard (backplane) and wire harness closely.  It couldn't be the Ceronix unit.  It's brand new.

Today I start shooting trouble on the random missing colors.  They'd come back if I wiggled the 19 pin so I figured the harness or pin was damaged on the slot side.

Put my meter in the pin, back probe at backplane.  R, G and B ohm out near 0 ohms.  Perfect.  None cross to each other nor ground.

I pull the RGB off the monitor and ohm it back to the 19 pin.  Red is 100 ohms and swinging all over when I touch the harness.  Green is open but will go to about 4 ohms if I wiggle near the 19 pin.  Blue is steady at about 4 ohms.  UGHHH

Pull the harness and put it on my bench.  Pull the red and green pin from the 19 pin.  I found the green wire basically broken inside the green insulation about 1" back from the 19 pin.  I found the red wasn't stripped back when crimped and soldered on the pin at the 19 pin.

Do some repairs and what do you know, rock solid.

I will be contacting them Monday to see if they'll send me a new harness.

To be honest at this point I'm 100% happy about the door fitment / bezel.

I'm 0% happy about the short harness and their unwillingness to at least say oh crap, oversight, we'll fix this in the future but just extend yours if you want or return the unit and we'll ship you a door mounted.  Nope, I get to pay shipping both ways.

I'm 0% happy about having to tear apart the VGA harness to fix it.

I'll let you all know what they say when I let them know.  If they send me a GOOD harness I'll be happy, things happen.  If they go another route I will not be very happy about this whole deal.

I emailed out to Ceronix, told them what I had found and expressed my concern about longevity of this harness.  They agreed and said they're sending out a new harness.

Are they going to send you one that is long enough this time?

I doubt it.  They had said that's the only way they make them.

Ceronix is great in that they are one of the cheaper drop-ins for the GameKing but the quality control is awful at times. Just wait until you have to replace a video board outside warranty.
The reason the door mount harness is so short is because it's the housing harness, but without the housing. Sure it doesn't cost a whole hell of a lot more the make an alternate harness that is long enough but again, that's money and this is Ceronix.

Harness arrived as promised and as I figured it would also have wires that were short.

The think about the door mount harness being short, it's not the VGA cable nor power cable that's short.  It's the simple power/signal to the touchscreen controller pcb.  Simple wires and simple to extend.  I honestly don't know why they didn't spec them to be at least the same length as the VGA cables.

Oh well, I'll test the new harness soon.

Glad they at replaced the poorly designed harness.

I took a couple pics of my door mounted monitor.  It's an AOC monitor, so I assume it's a kit that they made.  It was already in the machine when I bought it, so I didn't have to install it.  What I do like about this one is the video and touchscreen signals terminate into a molex plug that plugs directly into J5 on the mother board bypassing the 19 or 25 pin beau plug on the monitor shelf.  Makes it easier logistically for the company as they only have to stock one cable instead of two (19 & 25 pin), and I can use the shelf for spare MPU storage.

I'd never heard of an AOC brand monitor before, most are Kortek, Ceronix, or Tovis, but I've had it for several years and no problems at all.

Your setup looks very clean.

I had no idea there were other direct fit options other than Ceronix. I definitely would have at least looked at all the options before picking one.

I believe Ceronix is the only one that will sell to the public. They also may be the only company still making them at all for 17" and 19" game kings.  You would have to go the used route and there aren't many used at all out there for sale anymore.

I think you're right.  I looked at AOC's website and there's a section for gaming, but it's computer gaming, not casino gaming.  I couldn't find anything that indicated they've ever made anything for slot machines, so I'm guessing they no longer do.
