Top Gun (bb1.5) Question
« on: June 28, 2016, 05:47:06 AM »
I'm running Top Gun in a bb1 cabinet with CPU-NXT2 and tsetse board w/fooler card (bb1.5). The game plays fine put there's no image on the top monitor, is this normal? I'm assuming there is supposed to be something up top since the bonus round says "LOOK UP".

Is this a recent BB2 conversion? Your video cable for the upper monitor should be hooked up to the CPU not the tse tse board.

There is no image on your top screen.
The original game had a feature top box with no top monitor.

That's the purpose of the TSE fooler board.  The game originally used a feature top box, so the fooler tricks the game into playing.  Also, this game will NOT support an OLED deck so stick with the standard deck.
If it ain't broke don't mess with it.....

Yes, the game plays fine as is (does not support OLED) and yes TG is a lease game so the tse/fooler must be used. The "feature top box" explains why I'm not getting anything on the LCD. I guess I need to figure out if there's a way to get an image on the top LCD without having to use a Raspberry Pi or similar. I would be open to an inexpensive device that the top LCD can plug into for showing images. Maybe like one of those digital picture frames that has a VGA output?? Thanks for the replies guys.

I just had mine running on my 1.5.

With mine I get the main screen displayed on the top monitor as well................

Now running Hitchcock Theater with the NXT 2 and Tse board.  Works great.  It's the only D/S BB1 that runs on NXT 2 I think.

I came across this thread because I also have a BB2 running the Top Gun software.   I was told I needed a Fooler Box to make it work so I bought one.   All the TSE Box does is display a black screen with white letters and showing version numbers.  Is there a CF card software for the TSE box that will run the actual bonus rankings like the original top light box did.  Right now I am running a slide show on it, but I do not need the TSE to do that.  I feel like I bought the TSE box for no reason.

Without the TSE or a 'fooler' you wouldn't be able to play the game at all. You'd get a 'top box comm error'.. The bonus up top is a plastic facade with light bulbs behind it, not a screen. - WMS didn't make a video top box version for us people fooling the machines, wish the did tho!

Hitchcock would be one of the only games the TSE would be fully used on.
