Butterfly Bonanza problem
« on: November 18, 2016, 05:07:39 PM »
I am trying to install butterfly bonanza, I cleared the machine and the game seems to load up just fine.
Reels spin like normal, after about 10 minutes reels stop and I get this error...
I had Black star installed before which is also a 1 gb card, and I have no problems with that game.
Has anyone seen this before?
Thanks everyone!

Do you have the 1ghz expandable cpu (1 or 2 gb of ram)?

I am not sure, this is the first problem like this I have had.
Is it something obvious I could see?
I can post a picture of my cpu if that would help.
Thanks!

That is a Alpha2 based game.  There is a chance you can run it-only one.  Remove your mpu and look at the ram sticks,  You probably only have 1-stick and would have to match and add another to try-That is assuming you have a 1-gig box. Yes, post a pic of your mpu front and top shot, removed from machine.

You need a 1Ghz/1GB MPU.  The newer stepper games require 1gb of ram to work right.

Yes indeed, agreed. That is a 512 box and would never run that software.  Also,  Once you get the 1-gig box you MAY have to add another 1gig stick of ram of it to bump to 2-gig which I highly would suggest no matter what you run game wise.  Make sure you have the proper bios and clear for the 1-gig box also.  The bios chip length and size are diff. from 512 to 1-gig.

Alrighty, Thank you for the info guys!
I got this game for my wife (likes the butterflies)
Time to get a 1 gig box!

I am curious though, why does blackstar work just fine with the 1 & 2 gb cards in the 512 cpu?
Less information on the game card?
Thanks!

Yes,  And diff. programming.  512 box can only do so much.  Even a 1-gig box upgraded to 2-gig can only run few alpha 2 titles.  The memory and bios requirements dictated that on the software from alpha1 to alpha2.

The size of the CF card is not a true indicator of memory requirements.  The 3xxxxx series of games were meant to run on the later alpha 1 and alpha 2 cabinets.  The fact that some games run on 512MB mpu's is pure luck.  I gave my mother a machine with a game called Peacock Fancy, and the gameplay with 512mb was totally erratic and unstable.  As soon as I put a 1ghz/1GB cpu in there, it was rock solid.

This Butterfly game was frustrating me, so I got to thinking that my Game Maker HD has a 1GB cpu.
So I thought what the hell and put it in my alpha reel game and the Butterfly Bonanza worked
At least I know the game works  :Tongue_Out:
Pretty neat game.
Thanks again everyone for the help with this one!

I forgot to tell you about those- The 1gig non-upgradeable boxes used on hd's. Great you got it going.  The 1gig gamemaker hd boxes almost look like clones to a 512 box.  They both use same size bios and the dual flat batteries etc.  :cool_thumb_up: :applause: .  Game to me looks like a Sister or Brother of Cherry red and a few others.

Yup, It looks just like the 512 box.
This game reminds me of Golden flash/Black Star with the locking reels. Those Bullseye games are neat!
