Board Monitor Tilt
« on: May 13, 2018, 11:07:00 AM »
I need some advice/help with my SAVP/MLD machine.

I am getting a board monitor tilt but when I open the door and check the status of all the items that that board monitor "monitors", everything seems to be in spec/range.  The tilt log shows voltage range tilts that then have cleared and tilted and cleared, but I don't know where they are coming from.

So here is the thing.......the machine still plays and does everything correctly but the top candle remains flashing slowly.  Can't get it to stop even after closing the doors up and resuming play.

Ideas?? :Scratch-Head:

Steve

Try replacing the 3xAA battery pack mounted on the back plane.

OR

Ignore the error and remove the bulbs from the candle.

Jim,  If that were the case it would give you a Tell-Tale Battery error?.  You can monitor that by going to support  and pull up the battery diag. to verify if it says low or normal.  I seen that tilt before on some and can't remember what it was!.  Don't think it was much to it though.  I would check the pci card batteries first of all without removing them all the way (will loose your safe storage etc. if you remove them and have to reconfigure all.  You can monitor all three replaceable batteries in the menu and the 4th-the ni-cad pack on backplane that Jim speaks of.  Ni-cad pack is 3.6 volts or greater-charged and all others are 3 volts.

There was a recall by IGT on the power cable (the 24 pin molex power cable) that was causing that issue.  The solution was to either replace the cable or clean the contacts in the molex connector with a cleaning solution.  In my case, I just replaced the cable and the problem has gone away.

I'll second checking the power cables in particular the 3.3v from the sub PS to logic board.

Besides cleaning, and repinning if there are burnt pins. one can use an itty bitty tool to tighten up the female pins via a slight crease in them etc.

If your game doesn't have system monitor listed in game, you can access BIOS on most IGTs for checking voltages/fans/heat. If you need to IGT BIOS password, I'll PM you that.

Thanks.

I will give that a try.  I read that even the inside brainbox end should be cleaned/checked.

Stay Tuned.

So I have cleared my board monitor tilt.

After powering up I opened the lower door and it displayed the specific tilt.  Said it was 3.3 volt issue but it appeared ok at that point.  (I had R&R'd the molex plugs from the PSU to the Brain Box and re=seated them a couple of days before but the flashing tower light persisted.........)

I closed the door, and the flashing tower light went off.  Haven't seen it since...............

Fingers crossed..............that was about a week ago................

You should be good to go, the 3.3v power supplies are far more reliable than the connectors.  And I have seen plenty of the 3.3v power supplies available. Not a biggie either way. Clearing BMTs is always an open and close door clear, though will reappear if not corrected.

Put up a WTB in the classified.
I never needed one for my machine.
It cleared as described above and hasn't returned since.
