Bally E2090 reel tilt
« on: Yesterday at 10:53:41 AM »
Hello all, I have a Bally E2090 that was working fine. It set for a few months without being used. When it was turned back on it accepted the quarter and I was able to pull the handle. The reels started spinning and then the 3rd reel stopped the 2nd reel stopped. The 1st reel never did stop and the tilt light came on and the 1 2 3 coin lights started flashing. So I pulled the reel mechanism out and manually pushed the coil in to lock the 1st reel. Of coarse the power was off. I put the reel mechanism back in. It is tilt code 71. I can not get the tilt to clear. If I press the reset button no matter how long I hold it the tilt light and coin lights go out but about 5 seconds after I release the button the tilt light comes on and the coin lights start flashing. I could really use some help on this machine. Anyone know what could be going on with it?

      Thanks

Ok I did some more reading in the manual and testing. In the manual it says that on any of the reel errors 71, 72 and 73. After you correct the issue for these errors you have to press the reset button and then press the test button right after that to clear the error. The issue was the number one reel coil was kinda hard to pull in. I work with it and got it moving like the other two. The machine is working good now. I played about 100 pulls with no tilt issues.
I do have another issue I noticed. When I first turn the machine on the coin diverter does not pull in to make the coin go to the hopper. The coin will go to the chute that would take it down to the coin box under the machine. It will finally pull in so coins go to the hopper. It might be after playing 1 coin or 2 coins or maybe up to 5 or so.
Anyone know what could cause the diverter to do this? It should pull in as soon as you turn the power on shouldn't it?

Also should I replace the battery on the MPU board? What type of battery do I need to get if I need to replace it?

         Thanks

There is a sticky in the E-series section of the forum on how to install a 3.6 Volt Lithium Ion battery. The NiCad batteries tend to leak and eat boards.
For some reason the E-series software was developed to allow the first coin(s) upon power up to fall to the drop hole. THEN the diverter turns on from then on.

Badbaud, does there have to be a battery on the board for game play or was that just to keep info for the casino?  I would rather not have a battery on it if it is not needed.
Also do you know what all sounds this machine should have? Is there a way to test the sound board?

       Thanks

Rumor has it a battery is not needed but I do know that if a RAM chip is not working you get a RAM error tilt.
