Hi,

I am new to this forum. I do have the same poker machine(IA70D) with a bill acceptor. But the battery was dead and I just replaced it. Now it doesn't work anymore. I reset the ram with a clear chip for the s+but no luck with the BV chip. What do I have to buy to make it work again.

Any help is appreciated.

Hi,

I am new to this forum. I have an IGT Multi Poker Video 1994: IA70D poker machine with a bill acceptor. But the battery was dead and I just replaced it. Now the Bill acceptor doesn't work anymore. The game does work with coins only. I reset the ram with a clear chip for the PE+ but no luck with the BV chip. What do I have to buy to make it work again? Also the double up after a win is not enabled anymore.

Any help is appreciated.

you would need a set 004 chip, open the door, press  the white test button, that will put you in the menu, now each time you press it it will take you to a different screen and menu, you will get to the screen where it will tell you to turn on the double up etc.  instructions are on the screen.

contact RB on this forum,  he may have the chip you need.

Thank you so much for the quick responds.

I sent RB a message. Not sure if he got it.

Just need to buy the correct chips. I already bought a set for a S+. Only the clear RAM works, but not the BV chip.

Hi,

I split your post out of the thread that it was in. That other thread has not been resolved and we don't want to hijack it.

With your Bill Validator - you need to enable it in your setup software -- press the white button and make sure its enabled (this is in addition to the set chip).
You also need to set your denomination so make sure you have set your machine to be a 25c, 5c, $1 - or whatever coin its designed to take.
With the SET chip you should have some on screen instructions that let you set the matching denomination.

When your back to your game chip - the bezel on Bill Validator should be lit up. That is the key indicator that your bill validator is activated and ready to accept money.

Let us know if your validator is lit up or not please.

The double-up option can be turned back on easily.  Make sure you have zero credits on the machine (either play them off or cash them out), then press the white "self test" button inside the machine multiple times until you get to the "Double Up" option page.  Follow the directions on the screen to enable it, then close the door to exit the setup screen.

For your bill validator, there is a FAQ posted here that explains step-by-step how to enable your validator with the use of a SET chip.  You will need a SET chip designed for the PE+ -- your S+ SET chip will not work.  That FAQ can be found here:

Thank you knagl. The double up option works again. So happy about that. Makes it much more fun to play. imo.

Waiting for a 004 chip. Hope that will enable the BV.

This forum is great. I would've been so lost without all of your advise.

Thank you

Chris.

How to re-enable bill validator after battery change
« Reply #8 on: October 24, 2019, 05:25:33 PM »
Latest Update: Need more help, please.

Got the chip 004, put it in and it showed up on the screen. changed it to Bill Acceptor = Enabled. Select Denomination = nothing. Not sue what to put in there. My coins are quarters. What should I put in there?
Put in the normal chip and got the Door open and CMOS DATA Call Attendant.
Pressed the white button for 5 second and heard the ding.
Closed the door and turned the reset key on the side.
NOTHING.
Repeated this procedure a few times.
NOTHING
Put in the 004 chip again and disabled the BV
NOTHING
Changed the Denomination to $20
NOTHING
Changed it to 25cents
NOTHING

I can't get ride of the CMOS DATA error with any of those settings.

I went all the way back and used the clear set chip and then the original chip. So I got the game to work but still no BV accepted.

What am I doing wrong?

S+ and PE+ use coins.....  Not quarters, dollars, nickles, pennys etc, but coins.
You can change which coin the machine uses by simply changing the sample coin in the comparator (along with various other coin handling bits).
You put a coin in, you get 1 credit. You will see the pay out displayed as win 1200 coins not $1200 (dollar machine) or $300 (quarter machine).

When you bring a bill validator into the picture - it doesn't know how many credits to give for $1.00 so this is why you need a set chip to set the denomination.
Ie by setting 0.25 you get 4 credits for $1.00  - for home machines some people set their BV to be .01 so they get 100 credits for $1.00 but they leave all the coin handling to be 0.25
This is just a fast way of loading credits onto the machine.

Per the CMOS error after you insert your game chip again you can try turning the jackpot key to clear that.

If you can't afford to lose you can't afford to win.

Please make sure you're following the procedure in the FAQ I linked to in my previous reply step by step.  In particular, you need to set the denomination to $0.25 if you're using quarters and want to receive the correct number of credits per dollar inserted, and set the validator to "enabled".  Then, be sure to press the white "self test" button to save the options -- look for "OPTIONS SAVED" on the screen.

If you still are hitting a CMOS error after switching back to your program chip, I suspect that the SET chip you got might not be compatible with the program you're running -- you might need to try a different/newer SET chip, such as the SET038.  I know that probably isn't the answer you wanted to hear, but it might be the situation.  In a normal scenario, you will not get any kind of errors after enabling the validator and putting your program chip back in.

According to my research, set chips by Multi Program ROM:

XMP00002
XMP00003
XMP00004
XMP00006

All use SET004

XMP00024 - Use SET038

International program ROM:

XMP00008
XMP00010
XMP00012
XMP00014
XMP00018
XMP00025

All use SET025

And for XMP00020 there is nothing noted, so it may not support DBV

This information is compiled from the PSRs for the respective program number
