Brainbox serial port?

Does anyone know the purpose of this serial port? I have tried connecting to it and get nothing out.

Yes, I tried putty and I am not getting anything granted I don't know the proper speed. Tried while booting, doing things, etc.

I see it listed as serial port along with the other serial that goes to the backplane. Matter of fact they both look like male serial ports in the manual even though the other is female. This is why I assumed it must have a different purpose. Beyond that I am not seeing much.

okay yeah....but where?

which numbered connection point?

There's a number etched onto the board next to the header where it's connected to.It may begin with the letter "J" - as in "jumper".

Offhand and without any documentation in front of me, I think is a serial port that needs to be enabled in the settings as a COMM port for any data to come thru it.
It could be for either WAP, WAMM, or backroom casino servers, player tracking equipment...not needed for home use.

Your machine works right?

Just pure speculation, but since it is inside the secured area which typically remains sealed with jurisdictional seals, my money is on downloading diagnostic data while using the diagnostic usb.  This port is not accessible to the casino unless a jurisdictional authority is there to open the secured area.

Well the port can definitely be used with GAT with the diagnostics USB. I found BMM Signatures program and the GAT section works with the machine.

Also FWIW the password for the memory dump of the diagnostics USB is ACE$
