1987 E series Bally
« on: February 24, 2021, 04:21:27 PM »
Hello, just bought a E series Bally, guy said needed a reel sensor.  Upon turning on it made a bunch of different noises and they continued.  today i found the hopper fuse blown, found a token jammed inside.  Replaced that.   I got a code of 50 .0.05, which leads to a door open I believe.  Then I cycled the jackpot key switch and the 50 of the code changed to a 3 then went to 32.  Upon reading possibly a empty hopper?  Cant really do anything to clear info.  Reset and test buttons do not seem to do much.  Wondering if I could get a little help in fixing this machine, thanks in advance!  E2241-201 model # perhaps.

Subject moved to Bally reel games.

Have you tried to run test 4? That test is for the hopper..Test 4 will have the hopper turn on and then is should payout 10 coins.. Its is possible to that if you add some coins to the hopper and close he door, that it will finish counting out a payout? The only thing the payout key is needed fot on these old Bally machines, is to clear a jackpot win, and to help setting up a dual progressive machine..
Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this site on line.
And remember...
If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...

So I guess I'm not aware how to do the tests.  I did clean the power supply contacts and other things and I put it back together and  don't have the codes anymore or the Tilt light, but it's pretty lethargic and then I found the coin comparitor light was not on and found a broken wire so I'm dealing with that right now but I am curious on how to run the tests, before the buttons did not do anything.  Thank you for your response I hope to learn how to run the test and maybe find a list of what they are!

Have you downloaded the manual PDF?  K-LAR/SlotMachineRepair (sponsor here) has a link on their website.  Super helpful.  There’s a page or two on running the tests, as well as wiring schematics.  And when you need parts, they’ve got them! I’ve gotten several switches & a cable from them, and they serviced my I/O card.

Thank you, I did actually print the 66 page manual.   I discovered a slight burn mark on the power supply connector.  Machine doesn't do much of anything now, just lights up the fluorescent lights.   I can not run any tests or get it to do much of anything else.
