IGT PE+ with Superboard mod. So what is a superboard exactly?

Hello folks
I'm new here. Just took possession of my first video poker machine... a beautifully restored IGT PE+
Previous owner replaced the CRT with an LCD (which looks and works great) and replaced OEM PCB with a "superboard" that allows the machine to play 5 different poker games.
I plan to do my own research on all of this, but my noob question right off the bat is... Are superboards all one thing? I mean do they allow for adaptation to a variety of different games based on using different ROM sets? Or is this "superboard" just an aftermarket product for Poker's Edge machines and the 5 games are standard for that board and that's that....

Feel free to tell me this is a dumb question and/or to use Google.... or if there's a simple short answer - that would be appreciated.

In a nutshell, with the Superboard having an extra socket, it could support more complex games than just basic single-game sets. There's still limitations since it's old technology, but it can, for example and as you know based on the machine you have, support the 5-in-1 multi poker games. It is also backwards compatible and can run games that were originally designed for the standard board by just leaving the DATA socket empty. In simple terms, the DATA socket was basically a memory expansion socket for more complex games.
