AVP Game King 8.3 OS

I keep getting reboots when I game change on my G20 Game King 8.3.  When it reboots I am getting recoverable red screens refering to fonts being used in the slot on boot up.  I get this on different g20 slots so the problem I am guessing is the software.  I am using A1014B0C OS.  Any ideas?  Thanks

My guess is that you didn't install it correctly.  How did you install the gameking 8.3?

Installed it according to the steps posted here on NLG. 

Wipe everything.
2.  Boot with ekey and os to install OS.  Remove ekey and os installer.
3.  Boot machine and go through the initial setup up process but do not add any games.
4.  Power off, boot machine with ekey 7 and gameking installers and install.
5.  Reboot and you should see your Gameking specific menu available.

The OS you are using is the correct one.  I'm using the exact same configuration you have and I don't have those issues.  It looks like something might be corrupt on the drive?  When you installed the GK8.3, are you also installing the feature packages that go with it, it's 2 of them I believe.

how many install packages do you use when installing gameking 8.3?  You need both the 8.3 loader and the 8.3 features loader.  If you have 8.3R (With roulette) you do not need a feature package as it is already included in the main installer.

Followup on the problem above.  After using two different software dongles of the same game I am still getting the red screen fonts errors. Errors each time are different but always refers to it can't find a certain font.   I guess the next step is to change hard drives to see if that is the problem.  Machine runs great after I key flick the error.  It doesn't do this all the time but once every so often.

Update on this is still the same.  I have also changed hard drives, memory, tried 8.3R software, different OS and I am still getting this error on bootup. I went ahead and installed 1409A OS and loaded a number of AVP games and it works fine.  It must be the 8.3 software conflicting with something.  The only other thing I can think of is maybe the monitor and I can't change that as I don't have a spare.  I have all but given up given up on this using 8.3 in this slot.  Last error screen is shown.  Each time it errors it is looking for a different font??

If the Package number you're trying to load is: PI014001GKADxxx, here are the requirements for it:


Install Package (OS): AI014B0A or it's replacement
Secure Boot ROM: ASB014B30020 or it's replacement for SERVER BASED, downloadable non-proprietary configs on AVP 3.0 hardware.  ASB014B40120 on 4.0 Hardware
RAM: 4GB min
Video Card: On Board Video
Dynamic Button Flash: BFDB0019 or it's replacement (Check yours as 18 is the more common flash that is loaded)
Game Dongle Required
AVP Diag: 014-21 minimum
Display: Widescreen Display required. Also supports Multi-Layer
No Round Top compatibility




Check what your machine has, as the listed are the minimum for this 8.3R 2018 game.
