Changing games on GK 6.2
« on: July 26, 2015, 01:23:35 PM »
Hi,

I've been away from this awhile so I apologize.

I can't find an answer to this easily.

I have a game king multi game 6.2. I have the correct key chip (28). I'm familiar with installing the key chip, etc.

When I boot to the key chip, I get "clear ram", "clear motherboard eprom", apply "key chip". I'm a little reluctant to clear the first two unless necessary.

What's the procedure if I just want to select some new games and not start completely from scratch? Change some percentages, etc.

Thanks,

Thanks,

I have yet to do this as I recently bought a 044 motherboard/MPU with GK 6.2.  In my case, I would wipe everything and start fresh with a new game.

Thanks,
Jason

Just use the apply keychip option with no credits on the machine and you can make changes without wiping everything out.

And, having credits on the machine tripped me up a couple of times.

If I want to install a ZIF for the base/key chip, do I need to take out the existing socket and solder it in (messy)? Or, can I piggyback it into the existing socket (simple)?

Thanks again

You can piggyback it as long as there is enough clearance for it.  You may need a low profile ZIF socket.  Be careful handling the flash boards, they are pretty sensitive to electrostatic discharge (static electricity).
