What is this card, and what good is it?
« on: August 07, 2015, 07:13:05 AM »
My best guess is that this card is a network interface that was used to talk to the casino's progressive system.  I don't think I need it.  But does anyone know if it might have any value or use in the home environment?
But when I disconnected it from the machine, I ended up with an error message "Primary SAS Down".  Though it was previously working just fine when I had the power supply to this card unplugged.  I put it all back together, and I am still getting the error message.  I think I just need to review the settings in the key chip menu.

BTW - I am getting ready to set this machine up with a stand alone progressive.

Talk to sizzler, those look like comm cards but I'm not sure. He's the go to guy on comm cards and how they work. He'd probably know at a glance what that is. Good starting point anyway...

I don't think I need it for stand alone.

So does anyone know if this is the comm card used to make WAP games work in the home environment? If it is, they are rather rare and valuable.

Has nothing to do with making a wap game work in home enviroment.  You would need a ccom, special programming and programmer with exact values etc. to accomplish that.  The board is used in casinos as part of player tracking, accounting, meters etc.  They use a newer style now.  The board is not needed and values will have to be changed in machine upon removal.

So, now that it's out of my machine, do you think that's why I'm getting the "Primary SAS Down" message?  Would you happen to know what settings I need to change?

I would simply do a clear then key. That should set SAS back to default.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Well.. :Scratch-Head: ...I've seen it noted to only use a clear as a last resort.  I'm afraid that a clear might revert a lot of settings back to defaults that I might have trouble tracking down.

The clear is discouraged if you bought a machine set for home and was working all along and then you made a change to a setting or a setting needs to be changed to add something, then a keychip procedure is recommended. Yes clear is a last resort, but when the machines come out of casinos they are full of settings that are sometimes hard to track down. It is easier in that case to do a clear. You can follow this guide after a clear by Ted.

I would agree if you were working on a S Plus. I clear all my S2000s the key them with my preferences. I never alter the default SAS settings.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.
