WTB - Functional Sprint Iphone 5s

My POS 5s all of a sudden started draining battery within hours. I replaced the battery and it does the same, factory reset, same super fast drain. Sprint blows and simply says it works fine and to turn off apps (which I have none). So, I would like to buy a used one that holds a charge!

I will video tape me snapping this broken POS phone inside the Sprint store. I will then place the phone under my tire and do a wicked reverse burnout out of the the parking lot, happily paying a littering ticket if I get.

I had the same problem with a 4s
Took it in to the Apple Store and they reset it and said that something was running in the background and causing the battery to drain.

Yep, they said my phone works fine.. Then the guy noticed it dropped 10% in about 20seconds.. He walked me over and tried to sell me another.. Worse than buying a car..

Wish I knew what was running on mine to cause such a drain. Hope someone has one laying around for cheap(er).

If you have ins file a claim for a broken screen and when you get the new phone, break the screen on the old one and send it in, lol

Ha! No luck, don't have insurance on this. Maybe I can get it quick?

Why not? Sprint said the phone is fine, right?
Worst case, lots of companies on ebay sell referbished phones and I've alwa6s had good luck with them over the years. The wife had a bad habit of breaking her razrs when they had that thin flip version and ins cut her off on number of claims, lol

Check the following:
Charge port clean?  Front and Rear cameras focus and take pictures?  Rear camera flash works?  GPS turns on and off, acquires signal?  Wifi turns on and off, connects to a network?  Bluetooth on/off and connects? (verify both of them turn off by checking network connections/bluetooth scanner with another device).  Any unusual heat buildup?  A failed component will either stop working entirely or suck battery like crazy due to an internal short. Just gotta narrow down what's not working right. Since you already factory reset it we can rule out software and focus on something hardware related.  You mentioned replacing the battery already?  Maybe a diode in the charging circuit failed and is allowing the battery to discharge.  Easy to check, just charge it 100% then turn it off for an hour and then back on to see what your battery says.


Did you wipe your battery stats after replacing the battery?  Not sure how to do that on iphone, I'm android all the way

Tried most. All functions work properly. - I only had the battery changed because I thought the original just took a sh!t, not the case. And there prob is a short somewhere but figuring that out would be about as fun as passing a large kidney stone.

It won't charge to 100%. Only bounces from 96-98.

Gonna look up refurbs if I don't find someone with a spare 5,5c or 5s.

I used it this way for about a month before upgrading to the 6.  I became a expert on taking it apart and removing the battery-then I would put the open guts in the freezer for an hour and reassemble and it would work correctly for a 2 days or so-heavy usage-less.  Craig's list is usually full of what you want.  ---B.

Yeah, Craigslist scares me cause I would prob end up buying a phone that does the same thing. Refurb or new is the way to go. I buy phones outright so the $5-700 is hard to stomach sometimes.

Either way I will be smashing this POS once I decide! I look forward to it!

I will call Sprint to see if those can be activated. The guy at a sprint store said he didn't think they could be, that I need an original 'Sprint' phone.

If the phone is less than a year old take it to apple it is still under manufacture warranty

Doesn't Apple have a lot of problems with phones over-heating? Google the issue and see what the forums have to say about it. Or, as stated above, if it's less than a year old send it in, but being a 5s I'm guessing it's probably 2 or better

No warranty.. I would have to plan the Apple store visit, heard it takes hours. And also heard some repairs cost almost as much as a new phone. 

Hopefully I find a used one soon. Or I will carry around a few car batteries and a few chargers.. Wouldn't want to be disconnected for one second!!
