Hey Guys:
Posting hoping for a little help. With 6 machines (all IGT) in my collection, and having done work (thanks to NLG) on nearly all of them, when I saw a Double Diamond S plus, with stand and tokens, for $100 on CL, I had to grab it. Got it home and was quite pleased with the machine - it cleaned up very nicely. Initial problem: 12 error. Changed out the battery, did the little 61-61-1 song and dance, it started working fine. Played for a bit and ended up getting a 21 error. Checked coin optics and hopper optics - they were clear. Switched out the door optics (both sender and receiver) with another machine that was working fine, and, after a bit of poking around, again, fired up. Played for a bit and seemed fine. Left the machine on for a couple of hours and went to watch some TV - then came back and the coin in window showed a 0. Wouldn't take any coins. Noticed that the 'play one credit' light was on - pressed it - instant 3100 error. From there, I tried everything - went to the nlg.net site, searched, tried things, and, nothing. Finally, I figured, screw it - and (holding my breath for the yelling) pulled out the reset chip. Post-reset, it fired right up - everything worked great for a couple of days with heavy play and leaving it on for a long time. Finally figured I'd go ahead and use the Set 15 to turn the bill validator back on, everything worked perfectly for another 24 hours and, tonight, just when I think I'm out of the woods, after a break in play, I walk to the machine and damn it if the coin in isn't showing 0 again! This time, I powered down and back up - the reels spin, it appears things will be fine, but, no, back to the 0 in the coin in. Machine allows to cycle through the menu with the reset button, even allows play with the pseudo-coin button (on the comparitor) - but, shut the door, and you've got nothing but the 0 in the coin in window and that damed play one coin button lit up. Finally hit the play one coin button again and, like clockwork, 3100. Finally figured I'd come on and see what the professionals had to say...
Any insight guys? And go easy on me for using the reset chip - thought maybe it was just a gremlin in the system since it was down for so long before I bought it -- and, at least give me credit for not doing it again but coming to you!
Thanks in advance!
