BB2 power issue. [VIDEO INCLUDED]

Been running my bb2 native setup without issue for months now. (Note: I have a bb1 cpu in the video link below as I switch out cpus when I try different games on bb2 platforms)


ISSUE:
Quick one second of power to inside cpu units. All lights on bill val, printer, etc, come on.... then ALL OFF. I hear click of power supply kick on --- but it stops and doesn't turn fully on. Note: When the machine is plugged in I will still get light action in the cabin ON.

It looks like a short.  I would systematically start unplugging things that use power from the backplane to see if if eventually powers up.  Start with removing validator, then the printer.  Also pull the mpu so it doesn't make contact with the backplane to see if the machine stays powered up.  You basically need to remove one thing at a time until the unit powers up and stays on so you can figure out who the culprit is.

I converted my upper display into an Amazon firestick display so I'll also revert that mod as part of the diagnosis.

UPDATE: The Audio Out of the backpane is what got the machine WORKING after I unplugged it.


CULPRIT: Audio related?


ALSO: Bottom monitor is on and off after checking all connections. I think I may have damaged the fuse area when checking that. At the moment I cannot get bottom display to run. (Although the light is on gree (atop monitor buttons)

It is weird that audio out would give you the issue, unless it is not plugged into the right area.  Audio is passive, there's basically no current there to cause a short.  Maybe the other end is plugged into something that is driving current through the circuit causing a short.  Do you use the digital sound coax from the mpu to the amp circuit for sound?

As far as the monitor what do you mean on and off?

UPDATE: the newest state is not good...
I have unplugged all cables from the lower blue board (under cpu) and when I turn the switch I only get a quick glimpse of life (< 1sec) before the clicker within the power supply goes off.


Rick, to clarify, after I left the audio out unplugged (in the blue board underneath the cpu) the machine powered up but the bottom monitor was black. When I looked at the top of the monitor where the adjustment buttons are I was able to verify the monitor HAD power at times I was able to get the machine ON.


Now, I get nothing. even with everything unplugged in the bottom cpu.

I'm thinking it's the power supply under the BV. When I turn the switch on there is no fan that comes on. The only thing I get is the inside cabin light.

It's possible that is the case as well.  It's just typically when you have the power up for 1 second and turnoff, it is usually a short.

new power supply fixed it all, lol
