BB1 Mermaids Won't Boot-input/output error

I have a BB1 that let me clear it, when I put the game card in,  the top screen loads with the Mermaid screen,  bottom screen starts to boot and gets to -initrd/startup/nvram.o:init_module:input/output error.
It won't go any farther. Does anyone know what is causing this error and how to clear it? I just got this machine and it had a bad bottom power supply, never seen it working.
Any help greatly appreciated, Thanks  Dan

I used SCLR-000-1810, and tried another clear card I have, no # that works in BB1&2, same result. I replaced both batteries in MPU &  top box battery. I tried to boot it with bill acc & printer disconnected, I tried Goldfish game and still get stuck at same place. It says - Hint- insmod errors can be caused by incorrect module parameters, including invalid IO or IRQ parameters. What does this mean? This MPU has the side by side cards, blue backplane. Only thing I changed out was the bottom power supply.

What bios version is on it, although being blue I suspect you have the correct 2000 bios.  If the game is having issues with NVRAM and a clear does not fix it, it could be bad NVRAM.  Unfortunately it is not something you can replace easily.  At this point I would source a known working mpu from somebody reputable, or have your current mpu tested on a known good cabinet.

Its the 2000 ram. I have other machines, should I pull ram from one & try it, or pull the whole cpu & try? Just seeing whats easier, either way I guess I start by a clear.

Swap the whole thing. The issue is not the memory Simm (DRAM), it is NVRAM, which is soldered into the mainboard.

Figured it out :Scratch-Head: I swapped CPU from another machine, cleared it, put game back in and it booted fine. While it was booting, I took a look at the CPU that was in there while it was out of the machine and saw that I put the batteries in upside down.  :fryingpan: Put it back in the machine, went through the whole process and its fine. Learn something new every day, don't put batteries in upside down!
