831-4Z payout counter coil not working
« on: March 28, 2024, 03:05:23 PM »
831-4Z  payout counter coil is not working, that's the issue. The coil is fine I checked it out.

The 94 wire Is in the hopper plug #24 position.
The 94 wire is in the reels plug #22 position.

I don't have a wiring diagram W-1046-1838 to trace the wiring in the reels, to locate the defective switch. This machine was in excellent condition, very nice, just cleaned the grease off, it was working fine for a long time.
Anyone who has some information on this issue.

for small pays, the circuit probably goes thru an X3 relay switch - possibly wire 43-6 connecting to 94 when the X3 relay is unpowered.

electrically stepped payout on 831's is uncommon, but the only one I have info on the basic circuit is:

wire 90 -> payout relay switch wire 84 -> hopper pulse switches wire 43-6 -> X3 relay switch wire 94 -> payout counter step-up coil

for the high pays that need the X3 multiplication, it involves the X3 unit and is more complicated.

Here is where the 94 wire is attached to in the upper relay and if I jump it it works. I check out all of the coils, cleaned the switches, and this is where I am at.

below is the circuit you probably have.

if you touch a jumper from wire 30 to wire 43-6 on the hopper pulse switches, the payout counter step-up coil should power.

if that works, verify the pulse switches close when a coin exits the hopper.

the game is detecting the win and the payout relay is powering and coins are coming out, but the machine quickly shuts down because the payout counter isn't stepping?

if the payout relay is not powering, that'd be a different problem elsewhere.

Figure out the problem with Wolftalk pointing me the issue. It was a wear problem, the fiber disc is the culprit.
The switches were adjusted, closing the switch gap and cleaning the switches did the trick.
I know that the slot machine is running perfectly, so when something happens, it's usually a switch, coil, worn part, easier than dealing with a slot machine that's junk.
