Help with game prom understanding
« on: August 24, 2015, 12:40:18 PM »
I see a lot of glass out there, but I don't see a lot of game chips.  Does each game have a unique chip that runs it?  If I want to change games, can I find glass and reel strips that match the game chip I have so that the wins are the same?  I'm sure tha games with fun features like haywire would have to have specific chips.  Is there a chart?
Still learning.

Thanks Jim

There are several documents posted in the files section that include base chip numbers, etc.
Quality doesn't cost. It pays.

Well, OK.  I've looked through some of the documents out there on the file forum.  (there is a lot)  So would it be correct to say that if my latest machines have specific SB chips (SB100057) I can search an s2000 program list and find a couple games that will work with that chip?  Then I can track down glass and strips to trade out.  I did notice that there are a lot of game chips readily available on ebay....?  I've also found more sources for glass.  So now it looks like maybe the reel strips might be the more difficult asset to track down.  Of course all of the people here on the forum is a good source for kits, and I'm working on that now.
I guess I'm looking for some step-by-step info on the methods of trading out games.

I don't know of other games compatible with SB100057 except maybe 5X Diamond. If you change games you would have to change that base chip as well. For most games your other chips (SG & Version) are probably compatible.

As a side note, unless you've found some really rare glass and are just hoping to be able to finish the kit someday I would think buying a complete kit from a reputable seller is the better way to go. Generally they'll have at least the top glass, belly glass, reel strips and SB chip for a resonable price. Some will even have the reel glass and SG chips for very little more
