Double Diamond - Coin-in jam - Coinless system
« on: August 27, 2015, 01:46:38 PM »
This is my first post. Just purchased my machine yesterday and had two dead batteries on the board Both the green 3.7v and the disc 3.0v were dead to under 1v each. When the batteries were dead, I was getting a ROM error. Changed both batteries and did a reset with the side key and both ROM errors went away but I am now stuck on a "Coin-in Jam" error. There is no coin mech in the machine. It is strictly bill acceptor and ticket printer.

I went thorough these forums for the past few hours and tried the following:
- Checked all wires and connections going to the bill acceptor
- Checked acceptor for james
- Checked the bill stacker
- Checked all connections on the I/O board on the door

When it powers on, the bill acceptor does make noise and cycles through. When the bill stacker is reinserted, the bill acceptor cycles through. It definitely getting power and it seems like the machine notices that it is there.

The machine did not come with any clear chips.

Any and all suggestions are appreciated.

Post pictures of the inside of your door.  There's a harness where the coin-in parts connect to, usually has a jumper installed when the machine is coin-less.  If it doesn't have it, you will need to get one, otherwise you will never clear that error.

Please see attached!   Thanks. Also added error shot and extra wire by bill acceptor

With the machine turned off have you tried removing and reinserting the door IO card or possibly cards? A 5 reel game with multiple line and bet options will have 2. It's entirely possible you could have a bad IO card also, they are quite sensitive to static shock and power surges

If I remember correctly to clear the error, open door, and then close door a few times to see if it goes away.

I tried the open and close.  No change.  Tried the latch a few times and no luck.  Do you know the dip switch settings?   Mine are attached.

Did you remove and inspect the pins on the door I/O cards?
Most of these types of errors on coinless machines are due to door I/O card or pinched wires in the door area.

Rich.

Those are validator functions dip switches.  They are all correct.  Used to enable/disable currency denomination.  Basically switch 1 disables tickets, 2-6 disables $1, $5, $10, $20, $50/100 respectively.  When you open close door, you also have to close close the latch, otherwise it is not a valid close/open sequence.  If that does not fix it, then it's probably a senet issue.  Like cabling or an I/O card.

Also try, open door, turn reset jackpot key once, then close door and close the latch and wait to see if the error clears.  It's been a while since I've tinkered with one of my S2000's.

Thank you

Just want to confirm that the board that is being referred to is attached.  Any suggestions for where to buy one?

It is the one circled.   There is another I/O card that is in the cabinet.  It is a different type, but it looks the same (has a metal pull handle to remove).  it is located in the cavity area where the hopper normally goes to the left side of the cabinet.  That is usually the one associated with coin-in issues.  Always good to have spares though of both types.  These machines are no longer manufactured, and parts are still available as dealers part them out and sell the parts.  Eventually, these parts will dry up and you will have a hard time finding them, so stock up now that they are relatively inexpensive and easy to find.

I've had this issue before.   I first tried a 97 clear...  no help.    Then I noticed some corrosion where the green battery  was....  no help.   I ended up replacing the mpu ( main board) ..m.when you get corrosion or acid leaks from the green battery :; it causes all kinds of errors.   Good luck....  let us know how things go .

Thank you everyone!   The problem has been resolved.   I checked both of the boards... the one behind the door and the one where the hopper used to be and then closed the door but it didn't resolve the problem.

Rickhunter... you hit the nail on the head with your notation about the door latch. For some reason, it is sticking and didn't completely close so the error wasn't resetting.   I tapped with with a hammer and the error went away immediately.

I am going to open a new thread with two or three new questions regarding vouchers but I truly appreciate the help. Sometimes it is the simplest things.

A little WD40 all over the latch will allow for easy closure.
