Game King
« on: September 21, 2015, 05:14:29 PM »
Hello,  My first time posting - trying to help hubby fix the problem with our Game King Multi Game machine.  We're getting the error message "low main battery."  We're having trouble locating the battery.  I've attached 3 photos - hopefully someone can point out the location of the battery.  :thank_you:

Hello.. Welcome to NLG.. The battery your looking for is located on the main board or the MPU.. It is on the metal pull out tray inside your game, in the back left side. They are usually solder on the board, unless its been upgraded to a removeable coin type battery..
Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this site on line.
And remember...
If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...

The MPU board is right above your monitor.  It's the tray with the 3x/5x MD Poker label on it in the attached photo.  To remove it pull on the small handle in the center.  Make sure the power is off before removing or installing it.  The battery will be in the lower left corner of the MPU board.  It's the yellow circle in the second photo.

Thank you so much!  We found the battery - the question now is:  how do we remove the battery?  The clip (that's what I'm calling it) or the flat, thin piece of metal across the top of the battery seems fragile.  Does the battery slide out? If so, the thin piece of metal across the top seems to keep the battery from sliding or moving much at all.  It could be that the battery has been in place a very long time or that we have been too tentative in trying to remove it.

If yours looks like the one pictured above, then its a battery that's soldered to the board from the bottom. There are stores out there like Battery Giant that just sell battery's that could replace it for you if your not able to do it your self. Where are you located? It's possible a NLG member could live in your area, and could possible help..

Many thanks to all who helped with our battery issue.  We've removed the battery successfully ( ) and now on our way to get a new one.  There is no way we could have navigated this troubleshooting and battery replacement thing without the help of the kind souls on this site.

Thanks again!

After you replace the battery and re-install the MPU board you will get a RAM error message on the screen.  Follow the on-screen directions and you will be able to clear it.  The test button is the small switch to the left of the LEDs on the front of the MPU board, it will ask you to press and hold it for 2 - 3 seconds. Good luck, if you run into any problems post it here and someone will help you through it.
