Coin battery draining when slot is off

I have an s2000 3 reel slot with the 500 series  board.  Removed green varta battery and installed coin holder.  If the machine is off for a few days I have to remove coin, put back in and follow the reset procedure with key.  Now if I shut machine off pull board and reinstall two days later the machine will work.

Something is not right your machine with a new coin battery should be able to be off for months without having to do anything but turn it on.
Check the soldier connections and polarity on your battery holder.

I agree with Rich.  In my experience, poor solder connections can cause this.

If you replace the green Varta battery with a button cell coin type battery, I'd take a close look at the voltage and mAh. I believe the Varta batteries are 3.6v and a CR2032 coin type is only 3v. This could explain why it's reaching it's cut-off 2.0v so fast if that's what you used.

Check the date on your coin batteries. Old batteries die fast.
On the other hand, have you checked the voltage on the battery to see if it's dead or your solder job to make sure there was no trace damage during the battery change?

I replaced the yellow coin cell with the cr2032.  I just remove the green one.

That might be the ram chips causing the problem on the board then. Maybe try swapping them in each others sockets

1. Did remove the green Varta battery completely? If so, did you put anything in its place?
2. Are you now messing with the "regular" button cell battery on the MPU? If so, did you check the voltage of that battery?

Green varta is gone.  Coin cell 3.0v after being off all day.  It was off for 24hrs and today it worked when I turned it back on.   :duh:

I'd also inspect all your IC sockets and make sure everything's properly seated and there's no bent legs.

So you are saying that when you turn on the machine you get a battery low error, and just removing, and reinstalling the same battery fixes the problem? Have you tried doing a full clear and key chip? What is the game tittle and what GME chips are you using?

When he turns the machine on it acts like the ram memory is lost, sqme as after a battery change, and reseating the battery foxes it till the next time

I just have not had time to work on it, but the more I think about it and read the posts sounds like something is wrong with the holder and I'm loosing the connection.  I hope to work on it this weekend.
