S2000 5 reel sound simm swapping?
« on: September 27, 2016, 12:52:43 PM »
Hello to all  , newbie here starting to look for my first machine, (still learning), so happy to see this board here for discussion! ...Got my heart set on a 5 reel Triple Butterfly 7's, partially for my mom. Have been researching possibilities for occasional future sound simm swapping with the same machine....realize its possible for 3 reel single line machines, as a few of the members here have helped explain to me, :thank_you: .
But the question remains, is it possible with a 5 reel? I have seen a few posts mentioning the max credits available to be lower, such as 45 or 90 credits, to enable different sound simms (other than the generic dsv00042) Also read a post that with 5 reel games, SB100496 + SB100497 ...Triple Butterfly 7's will work with almost any sound simm. Is it just up to getting that particular SB chip to enable swapping multiple sound simms for that machine?  Hopefully this can be explained and worked out...thanks guys for the help! :hail:

Not sure the information you have received is correct. To the best of my knowledge only the DSV 42 might work in a 5 reel triple butterfly machine. There are other members here that can tell you for sure that a 42 will work with the SBs you listed. I believe they will from my memory of triple butterfly.

Triple Butterfly 7's is a clone of Triple Wild 7's.  So anything you have read posted regarding simm compatibility with Triple Wild 7's will work.  The Sound Simm issue is as you described.  I'm not 100% sure on the SB number you posted (looks right to me), but there is an SB chip that will play enhanced sounds using that theme.

Basically speaking with the SB chip that works with the sound simms, you can use the "generic" DSV0042 and have the enhanced spinning reel sounds and credit roll ups.  I have personally used a wheel of fortune simm on a 5 reel Triple Stars machine (which is basically a clone of Triple Butterfly 7's).  You get the wheel of fortune spin sounds and credit rolls ups.  I have not used any other, although you could probably look up Yoeddy1 and follow his threads on the multiple uses of sound simms as he has been the one who has done extensive testing on his machine.
