S2000 Reel light problem
« on: January 02, 2017, 01:49:18 PM »

Recently when my S2000 is turned on the reel lights stay lit bright. I changed the backlit board, the reel harness, harness to IO board, IO board, the power supply behind the reels ( this particular machine has TWO power supplies, one up in the top box) and the number one reel. Now the reels will light up bright for a brief moment then go to normal dim light. This machine has an enhanced board........Any help is appreciated, need to eliminate that startup bright reel flash.

Thanks, Dale

The reel lights are supposed flash when you first turn the machine on. A have had the lights stay lit because of a bad bulb, your reel is probably still good, just check all the bulbs.

I have 4 other S2000s with backlit reels and none of them flash on when the machine is starting up. I did check all the bulbs and they appear good. I also traded the reels from another machine and they do the same thing, flash bright in the problem machine and start up normal in the traded machine.

Dale,  How long do the reel lights stay at full power then go to dim-(half power).?.  This is normally caused by no input to the reels or a delayed input and usually is in the processor/mpu etc.  For example a machine that is powered on with no mpu with back lit reels will burn the lights at full power.  They found that out years ago on new installs that were powered up without mpu's-Needless to say it melted all the light buckets etc.

They only stay on for a brief moment but I do hear a click or similar noise. Before that the reel lights were staying on bright until I disconnected one of them and shoved it back in before they went dim. I changed out the # 1 reel and now they only flash bright then go off at start up. You know what machine this is, you are very familiar with it. Everything works fine except that initial bright reel light, you know my OCD........ I do have one extra enhanced board........ should I try that or is there something else I might try, for instance the upper PS? Is that powering the reels or just the top box items?

Dale,  As you have many machines and are constantly monkeying with them it's no telling.  For something that was working and not monkeyed with to exhibit this concern would tell more but I do not think that's the case. Talk to you later if this is not resolved.  Getting Hammered over here the last 2-days.  Internet off and on.  B.  Also as a note silver bucket reels were revised to white bucket reels a long time ago by igt.  The actual light boards were revised.
