809-ZH new project

Okay after a little research found the machine was called "Money Gusher" probably because it only had 4 features.
First built in 1967.

This is my first 809 machine, so will most likely need some advice along the way.
1. Need to make a positive I.D. The tag has 809-ZH then under that is MT-7447.
Reason being the top glass shows 777, Bars, $2.50 and Watermelons. The reels are Bars and Fruit.
The person I got from said someone changed the reels as to add some more payoffs not knowing just a reel change wouldn't do the trick.
But I need to make sure the reel "mechanism" is right for the machine. The wipers are marked 809-zz B-1.
Haven't got into the manual to deep yet, just glanced over the table of contents. 
Did notice there is some nomenclature in reference to P-I and P-II.  Thought that might be for identification.
In summary, need help IDing and or finding ID numbers.

The machine has issues, but need to know exactly which machine it is.
If I get it running correctly, will probably need some better glass later on.
But first things first.

David open up real strip number 1 I've got that model number in my list for what the real strips are supposed to be so open up number one in post the number of real strip number one and we'll see if that's what they're supposed to be in you have the wrong glass I have the right glass for those real strips if it plays in pain its at 8:09 its really easy to fix

Your reel strips are definitely not for that feature glass. Your reel strips are for a "T Bar" machine similar to the attached photo.

John, the number on the 1st strip is M220-758 K. Double check your reference numbers, but I'm sure these reels are wrong.
The Step-up unit on the hopper is only wired to pay on four payouts. 777, Bars, $2.50 and Melons. See photo attached.
Eventually I'll need the right set of reels, but machine has other issues for now.
One is the coin diverter on the hopper, it never pulls into payout position and the handle release after the first coin in, it doesn't release.

Tested the coin diverter solenoid and it appears to be weak.
The armature doesn't retract until it is manually pushed in around 75%.

Richard I was admiring the 809 picture and then noticed that it was posted by you. Beautiful game!  I am sure that you will be able to get the member on the right track.

Thanks T. That is one of the slots I have in LV. 809's can be so frustrating with their infrequent payouts. 


Seems that the slot in this case is a real hybrid. T Bar reel tapes and wired for 809 JPO. Maybe the feature glass is correct for the actual payouts. No wonder most reel payouts do not happen.

Dave will have to save this picture and blow it up on your computer so you can see it they give you the right strip numbers index plate numbers and wiring for that machine if the machine is functioning I would probably rewire the machine for the triple bar really the only challenge is the  3 bars
you can always bring it up for a day and we'll rewiring if you don't know how Dave and I do have the right glass in storage

I'm saving the chart you sent I!m sure it will come in handy now and in the future.
Also  thanks for the offer to rewire the machine. I!ll keep it in mind.
Right now I need to get it running properly then locate some "Money Gusher" reels.
Will be starting a new post, still have a couple of things I need to find out about.
One thing I'm not sure about is the coil/relay that is mounted to right of the transformer behind the hopper.
Noticed it, but haven't had time to see what it's for. Also the handle release coil doesn't energize.
But I!ve traced it back to the exterior key switch below and to the right of the handle.

I think I have the real strips the readers the end explains everything but they're in Michigan I am leaving after Christmas to make another load back there but I don't know what box there in

Yea, let me know what you have. Would like to get reels with decent strips if you have them.
Not sure if I can just change the strips and have it pay correctly. Want to get it running properly first, but if I have time I'll set up to see if I can get the four features to payout correctly.
Would like to get a better top glass, [size=78%]this one is starting to flake. Also the Bally bottom glass is flaking. But any glass would do for the bottom.[/size]
Preferably some well known casino would be nice or just a good Bally glass.
Also the solenoid on the hopper that holds the coin kicker back, I'm pretty sure the one on this machine is bad. There is a photo of it a couple of post back.

Attached photos of the coil/relay located at the back of the machine. Not sure what its for yet.
Over ride solenoid is working, after deep cleaning all contacts on hopper, but it didn't start right away.
So could be a bad connection. Now I can check payouts. Just need to get a few more nickels.
Also adjusted zero switch, seems to be paying better, need to double check payouts.
Thanks again for the schematic now I can see exactly where I need to trace wires to the handle release coil.
