VFD flash

Hello everyone,

I'm having problems with a VFD for the top box of an S2000. It first came up with an auxiliary dot matrix failure. We switched the top board out with another and got it running. However, it is flashed for a Top Dollar game, and we need it flashed for a Red Hot Jackpot.

How are you suppose flash it? I have the correct flash set aside. I'm told you're suppose go through the netplex to apply it, but I don't know how to get to that point.

Can anyone help with this? Thank you!

Here's what I remember from this and doing this long ago.  You need a window xp pro based sys-we used a IBM thinkpad.  You need the igt aux. vfd loader program.  You need a fiber optic convertor that is igt part # specific.  Two fiber optic cables.  Looking at the vfd thru the mesh you will probably see holes in the screen where the dip switches have been moved to enable flashing-cannot remember the settings as I have all the data packed away (moving).  Once this is all set up you can use the machine and put it in pass-thru mode to begin the flash.  Also I believe the cable from lap top was paralell to serial on the convertor.  That's basically how it was done back then.  I can't get to my stuff now to be of anymore help.  Seen you signed up today--Welcome to NLG.

Yes. We do have that fiber optic converter and stuff. You did remind me about the dip switches though. There's 4 of them I believe. 4th or 3rd one switched.

The other problem is that program then. I've been trying to use the IGT firmware utility to try and download it. The program seems like it only works with USB devices though, because it doesn't detect any netplex devices.

How can I get this .vfd loader program?
