Need help identifying and enabling bill acceptor
« on: June 18, 2018, 07:46:04 PM »
Got what appears o be a Fortune II video poker, but its a built in, more like a slant top.
If anyone can identify it and maybe point me to a manual, I would be sincerely appreciative.
Ultimately the bill acceptor seems to be disabled and no way of enabling it from the service menu.
I didn't take photos of the service menu at the time, but it said something to the effect that the bill acceptor was disabled because the denomination value wasn't set by the "chip". I am presuming that to make changes a programming chip must be set into the board, like a "clear chip".

Hard to tell what you have by the pictures. If it’s IGT then it would be a PE+.. But I see what seems to be a Bally piece of glass right above the monitor. It looks more like a bar top machine. Can you post more pictures of the outside and inside?
Please remember to make a donation to NLG for mine/our help in repairing your machines problem.. Your donations help keep this site on line.
And remember...
If it's jammed, force it.. If it breaks, it needed to be replaced anyways...

It's a PE+.  You need a set chip to set the denomination.

Moving to PE+ forum.

Your last photo is not the same as the first one you posted.

The first one had the PE+ Multipoker insert that IGT used with the PE+ machines with a superboard that had 5 different games available.  The insert is what led me to believe it was a PE+.

The second photo may be a Game King and if so uses a requires a keychip vs a set chip.

I think 13" PE+ bartop and 13" GK bartop machines used the same cabinet like the 13" PE+ and 13" GKs did.

If you can post a picture of the MPU board we can tell you which one it is.

Both the machine in the original post and the machine in Reply #3 are IGT PE+ drop-in bartop video poker machines with embedded bill validators, but I agree with Tilt that the two pictures are not of the same machine.

To the OP: if you need help with your machine, please post pictures of your specific machine, not just random pictures you've found on the internet. We're doing our best to help you based on the pictures you provided, but if the machine pictured isn't yours then we could be giving you bad information.

There is a how-to guide which shows how to use a SET chip to enable your dollar bill validator (DBV). It is a sticky topic here in the PE+ section of the forum (here: http://newlifegames.com/nlg/index.php?topic=334.0 ).

The SET chip can be purchased from many of the vendors who support this site. If you have the ability to burn your own chips, you can probably find the file you need floating around on some of the MAME websites, as the PE+ was ported to MAME a while back.

Due to copyright issues (even on a relatively ancient machine), we are unable to post copyrighted files here, nor facilitate the sending of such files through the NLG website.
If you find this site helpful, please consider making a small donation to help defray the cost of hosting and bandwidth.

Please do not PM me for support or "how to" requests -- please post your request in the forum so that everyone may assist you and everyone can benefit from the answer to your question!  Thanks! :)
