Sometimes the tilt light will come on when powering up the 1088 I have.
Pressing the coin in switch down turns the tilt light off and the machine is ready to play.
Give it a try. If that doesn't work you will most likely have to trace the wire back to the switch.
Checking it for proper function.

Note, this is for a 1088, your machine may vary.

When I got the Bally 1091-49 three days ago, it was on tilt, that steel plate was always

pressing on the white button. The lights were on the machine but was on tilt.
When I released it, then the red light came on and all other lights on the machine go off.

Pushed in, lights come on, but on tilt, released, red comes on and machine goes dark.

Then I manually turned the dial, just touched it and it turned the rest of the way, stopping

in this position on picture #3,while the light was still red. I push the white button and the

red light goes off and the lights on the machine turn on... Without the tilt on. Eureka, yesss.

I rock.
Not so fast. I replace the hopper and the tilt returns.

Look under the hopper scoop for a enclosed relay.
If there is one, this might be causing the tilt light to stay on.
Try removing it then just plug it back in 3/4s of the way.
Then move it slightly back and forth in all directions then finish plugging it in.
Also check for any wires that might of come loose.

Removing the hopper relay and the tilt goes away. Reinstalled and tilt comes on. Could it be that it has gone bad? How can I test it?

To activate the coil, jump a solid yellow to one side of the coil lead pin and a solid orange to the other side lead pin. The coil pins are on either side of the threaded alignment pin/screw.
The coil should activate.

Gonna need an explain like i'm a 5 year old. I've only have a slot machine for 5 days now. Bought off ebay. Not really upset knowing one day will be working and it's beautiful condition, but I am learning fast and also preparing for my first electro mechanical pinball machine coming very soon.

With EXTREME CAUTION  jump testing the relay. Machine OFF. Also view ohm meter test next posting.

Looking at the photo you see the orange wire location on the machine. Clip a jumper to the orange solder joint then to the relay as seen.

From the relay jump to the yellow wire on the switch, but connect it to the insulated portion of the wire.

Double check connections then turn machine on.

Carefully remove the Yellow wire from the insulated portion and briefly touch it to the yellow wire solder join.

The relay will make a distinct clicking sound. Repeat a few times.

The jumpers must have insulated covers on the clip for your safety.
Do not touch the machine while preforming the test.
Also standing on a rubber mat is recommended.

If the machine goes dark, which shouldn't happen, That is an indication a fuse was blown.

If we don't hear back from you, well will figure something bad happened!
Just kidding its a simple test, just need to be cautious.

Whoohoo, it works. While moving the wire harness while the power was on, I heard a sound of life. The coin thingy got energized. I closed the door and added a coin and the tilt went away. I figure the connection built up corrosion. WD40 cleaned it up nice. Thanks for all advice.
