PLEASE need help on a Bally M9000 Green stamps MEI cashflow bill validator!

Ok let me start by saying I knew NOTHING about these types of slots when I got this, did all my reading here. I know my way great around IGT ones but this was a learning curve. I got this game from an older gentleman when I bought a pinball machine from him. His son bought it from a slot dealer, the guy really didnt want it, played it maybe a week & let it sit, so the batteries went dead. I got it, replaced all 3 batteries & bought a clear card. I have the 807 bios, the 317 OS, & I got a 312 clear card. Did the procedure & got the game running, but now my bill acceptor is DEAD. I have a solid green & red LED, no yellow & it wont even attempt to take bills. In setup I have a comm error for the validator. I removed the head & cleaned the leads with an eraser as well as the bottom board which looks totally clean, but no matter what I do I cant get it to work. I have the game set up for a mars like it should be. My validator is a cashflow 66.I have to believe that this validator DID work as the guy played it...can the programming go bad on the heads from sitting? My reading on here a lot of people say its a good one & pretty reliable. I dont know what to do next, get it reprogrammed, buy a new head? My 24 volts is fine too. I have spent hours trying to get this to go...please point me in the right direction. I have the game up but cant play it as I cant add credits!!!!

you need to have a bill validator Cashflow SC6607 RS232

What is the error message you are getting?  A blinking Red light is not a good sign.  Does the validator cycle when you insert cash can?

Solid red & green, no yellow at all. Does not cycle & in setup say validator comm error. I ordered a new working head, if that wont work I plan on getting an interface board next..... sigh.......

I lean toward a bad head, the interface board in the back also goes bad all the time.  But it's going to be one of the two things.

Well just wanted to follow up...ordered a working head....same thing...then I ordered a interface board...BAM! Heard the validator initialize & of course it worked once the game booted.... all good!!
