Printer compatibility question
« on: May 28, 2019, 06:15:26 PM »
Have a BB1.5 with a BB2 CPU.  I installed a better Tito deluxe  and everything works perfect except I think my printer is no good I keep getting a comm error.  The printer that is installed it is a GEN two RS 232 . What printers are compatible with this machine do I have different options or do I have to get the same one? One other question is there are two smaller connectors on the printer that are not connected to anything do they stay disconnected or am I missing a harness somewhere? Thanks for any help

Only the big connector gets used.  You need to have the proper firmware installed on your printer.  A Gen2 RS-232 is a printer widely used in bally, Aristocrat, Konami, and WMS slots, but each requires compatible firmware.  To see which firmware is on your printer, hold down the feed button on the printer as you power up the machine, the printer will print a test ticket with the firmware information.  Post a photo or just whatever firmware is shown on the printed ticket and we can verify if your firmware is correct for your device.  If it is not, you would need flash the printer with the correct firmware (a special serial cable needs to be made up), have someone flash it for you, or just buy one with the correct firmware (the printers are inexpensive enough where the shipping back and forth might be higher depending on where you live).

You have to keep holding it down until it starts printing (pulls the paper in).

The firmware is correct for your machine.  Are you selecting netplex printer for your printer selection?

Yes. Do you think I need to re-check all the connections or take out that little 2 inch bypass card

Well, if the printer has power, then the connection is good (same cable for power and data).  I would try a known working printer at this point.  Printing a test page is no guarantee that the printer is working 100%.
