Error code 63 wont clear - sp1213
« on: June 01, 2014, 02:38:58 AM »

I bought an s+ pure pleasure that came with ss6568 and sp1213
I cleared the game, the reels started (stopped from right to left) and gave me a code 63
No switch is open. I changed sp1213 with sp1014 and it's working
What's special to sp1213 ?

Two things come to mind

NOTE:  This PROM must be installed on a 10 MHz processor board

 GAME TYPE
Type 0 (no special features), Type 1 (Slam Dunk, Balloon Bars, etc.), Type 4 (Spin ’Til You Win), Type 5 (4th of July), Type 12 (Fever), and Type 0/14 (All-in-One Tournament).   The tournament option can be enabled in the self test mode, provided the correct paytable program, beginning with STxxxx, is installed.  Type 0 games support nine paylines

I don't know what a 63 is offhand, and I can't get to this old thread at work (blocked), but there might be some help here:

This is a common error when moving between chip sets of different ages.
731 to 1271 goes fine (old --> New) but if you switch back to a 731 then you run into this error.
Basically the CMOS memory which is on both the MPU and Motherboard gets formatted differently as the newer chips kept track of all sorts of accounting things that were required by the Nevada gaming board. The new chips know how to take the old CMOS and convert forward but the older chips don't know what to make of the newer format and give you this error. I believe the SP1213 is one of the "special" chips which has all of the music files. It has the old format of the 7' series. The 1271 is a newer chip that basically manages the type 0 games but dropped all of the music for advanced accounting features and multi level progressive support.
So to clear the error simply hold in the white button until you get the DING, then turn the jackpot reset key and close the door.

I missed the part in your initial post where you said you got the machine working with a different SP chip. Leave it be -- there is no benefit to using the other SP chip for your game.

Kevin,
I don't know why, but without using that jumper, the machine is working, but i cannot set the bill validator. With the jumper over the card cage det. and the original SP1213 all is working the way it should. Thanks again for the link.

When you say you can't set the Bill Validator - are you using a Set Chip.
Check the online game bible for the S+ and valdidate that the ID for the game matches what the bill validator is set to. What kind of validator is it ?
I believe that ID 022 and ID 023 are possible for S+ games.
