IGT S+ River Gambler Error 43 plus other questions
« on: October 06, 2021, 08:43:13 AM »
Hello All,
I recently purchased a IGT S+ River gambler that  I was told doesn't work and needs a new fuse and I should be good to go. When I got it home I noticed the wires on the door optics where cut off on the optics in the machine. I decided to run a wire from those wires to the door optics to by pass the switch. I then powered the unit back up and reels would spin around a few times and all stop. I then noticed the credit and winner paid displays where shifter so it was cutting off half a digit so I took things apart to realign it. When I put it back together and closed the door i noticed the third wheel was stuck to the door and didn't spin. I quickly open up the door powered down the unit and fixed that issue.  I then turned the power back on and all three reels spin slowly and a error code 43 is displayed in the winner paid display.

Here is what I have tried so far from recent posts.
I have swapped reel 2 to 3 to see if the problem would move and it did not.
I tried the open/close door suggestion by disconnecting the optics jumper I installed to see if that would work but no luck
I don't have any keys for the jackpot lock so I cant try that method. On a side note are those all universal if I want to purchase one on Ebay or do I need to replace whole lock assembly?
I don't have any chips to swap out to perform any resets at this time.

Also this is my first slot machine so still a little green and I have alot more questions but i figure i better fix one problem before the next.

Thanks in advance
Matt

[43] is a 3rd reel error code.

It may not be fully pushed back all the way into the reel shelf slot or the reel glass display could be slightly loose.

Three nuts underneath hold it.

If the display is loose, it could lean slightly backwards and letting the reel basket rub against it?

Remember...you shifted it to align up in the little red windows....probably too loose.

Oh them jackpot keys...should be all the same...#2341 I think.

Fuses...use "quick blow" fuses only....6amps and 8 amps.

Let me say congrats to ya!...You're the first new member I have ever heard in 20 years!! that actually "powers down" a machine before going inside and messing around with it!

What I found was two of the three nuts where not fully tight so display was rubbing against reel which created the 43 error. Each reel has been confirmed pushed back in its reel shelf. Fuses are quick blow thanks for that. The 43 error is still coming up and not sure with what my next steps might be with the equipment I have on hand. On a side note to order any additional parts to help resolve this issue is there a main person or business I should reach out to.

Thanks
Matt

1st - if the machine played ok before you moved the glassand reel shelf, that would be the root cause of the 43 error. If you did not play it before the work/adjustment, the error could have been there in the 1st place. You said Hal I digit was blocked which prompted you to make the adjustments. Knowing whether you caused the error or it may have already existed would determine the next appropriate steps. As the digit was blocked, you may be able to assume someone was previously adjusting the glass before you. (Hinting to the error may have been there)

You can manually jumper the reset switch momentarily to activate the reset, just short the wires momentarily to simulate the key turn. I'm sure you can figure a way to do that with the door closed and open. Or you can wait for a key.

The home page has links for vendors that are reputable and will be very helpful with anything you need. Members like myself help also.

You can fix almost any electronic device by replacing the aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

If all 3 reels are turning slowly, open the door turn the jackpot reset switch that is on the outside  above the pull handle , the reels will stop, close the door and wait for it to reset automatically. Insert coin should start flashing , insert money.

Little update on the issue. The Jackpot key showed up today so I powered up the machine with the door jumper open and all three reels started  spinning. I turned the jackpot key one time and all three wheels stopped. I reconnected the door switch and the error code went away. There was 56 credits still showing so I hit play max and the reels started spinning like they should. I played the game until the credits where gone. error 43 Problem fixed.

Onto the next issue when i insert a $1 bill i get 100 credits vs 4. Gitty up! Thanks to the group for all the help.
