I am having difficulty finding a reliable cooling fan for my IGT S2000. Once installed they last a few months then fail.:banghead: I suppose it's hit or miss when all this stuff comes from China. Can anyone please provide me with a link or suggestions on which brand would be best? Here's what I've tried so far:

WINSINN DC 80mm Fan 12V 8025 Dual Ball Bearing Brushless Cooling 80mmx25mm 2PIN

WINSINN DC 80mm Fan 24V 8025 Dual Ball Bearing Brushless Cooling 80mmx25mm 2PIN

Thanks to anyone who can help.

Mike

Just took the original fan out of my S2000. I know it to be the original as it still has the part number tag attached. It was still going strong, really moving some air. It was a little louder (hum/vibration) than I liked so I removed to to take a look and clean it. Thats when I noticed it had a missing blade, not surprising considering the previous ownership. I've had this machine for about 5 months and it has been powering through, out of balance and all. Ordered a new unknown name brand, one and will install it when it arrives. The original manufacturer was INNOVATIVE, or maybe Bi-sonic Technology Corp.

Not much of an expert on fans. I looked at the specs for the one you are using - the 24VDC - 24 hours 60,000 lifetime rating dual ball bearing almost 7 years, another spec says 30,000 - 50,000 hours - 3.5 years minimum. Sounds like you chose a good one to me.

What problem are you having?

The S2000 applies 25VDC to the fan so the 12VDC one would not be recommended. 25VDC / 24VDC no problem there. Maybe check the voltage and see if you have any AC ripple? That may cause premature failure.

I would think they should last for years, especially in home use powering on when wanting to play.
Tony

You can fix almost any electronic device by replacing the aluminum electrolytic capacitors.

  • The only way to beat the casino is to own it.
If they have 3yr + rating then save your receipts... and get them replaced.

When the fan runs and blows heats out (or vice versa ... cool air in) ...... where is the air coming from ? if there is no air intake -  you will be unduly stressing the fan.

Want to burn out your vacuflow ?? plug the end of the hose ....  the motor goes into a high whine before it fries.....

Hope this helps.

It looks like your original fan was made by the Bi-Sonic company.
It seems that many I've found during a search are all .21amps draw or higher now instead of yours at .13amps?
That difference really isn't much....never just buy one....keep a spare one and throw it up in there for storage.

I replaced the florescent lamps with led tubes and got rid of the fan.  Brighter light, uses less power, generates less heat, and doesn't fade the glass or strips.

Thanks for the reply, Tony. The issue I am having is the fans eventually get louder and louder (which by the sound you can tell is not normal). These are very easy to install, and I've replaced multiple on other machines as well. Failures just seem random as some fans last and some don't. I was just hoping that maybe there was a top brand that is known for its longevity.

Thanks for the reply. All the fans I have purchased so far have been off Amazon and for the cost, returning seems frivolous (to me anyway). It'll cost me more (in time, gas, etc) to return because I live in a very rural area. I look at an item like these as basically disposable. I'm just hopeful that i won't have to spend another $20-$45 finding one that lasts.

In this specific application, the fan is blowing the air out. The machine is in an open, well-ventilated area.

I too replaced all the bulbs with LED's. The fan to me is just another insurance policy that I hope helps extend the life of the slot...

I replaced all mine with LED tubes too. I connected a normally open 100F 'snap switch' in one of the fan leads. They hardly ever come on.
