Bill validator is bad?
« on: February 24, 2022, 05:00:12 AM »
I don’t think it’s because I installed 363 chips into my quarter slot machine yesterday or just coincidental but yesterday my bill validator was working afterwards accepting bills and tickets. However a few hours later it was intermittently accepting tickets (didn’t try bills then). After maybe 5 or 6 ticket inserts it may or may not accept the ticket. The display says validating voucher. Could the bill validator just need cleaning or is it time for a replacement? Or might it be a menu option not set right but doubting that as it still accepts tickets maybe 25% of the time, BTW: the tickets read in fine on my other $1 slot machine.

Ideas?

Might clean the gunk off the wheel next to the middle sensor, usually will come off using something to scrape it off, usually a fingernail!

also might check on making or purchasing a calibration paper for the WBA and re calibrate the head, this will USUALLY fix that problem.

just involves moving  the switches on the right side to a certain configuration, run the paper into the unit and let it do its thing.

He has a MEI head.  Anyone that calibrates them??    Maybe Jim Midwest Slots has a good working MEI head?

I have the bad MEI boxed up and ready to send out to whoever can fix the issue. I also have a second slot machine that I'll see if it has an MEI head. If it does I'll try it in my quarter machine to ensure that the interface card is not the issue either.

But either way, I would like to get the potentially bad MEI fixed ASAP for those that can help. I did find these documents (attachments) which may also help.

It appears my 2nd working slot machine has a WBA bill validator (not MEI). So other than going through the MEI troubleshooting guide, if it doesn't help I will need someone to see what can be done to correct the MEI intermittent issue of reading tickets/bills.

Thanks.

Not sure what happen but the MEI bill validator is working again with bills and tickets. Maybe taking it out and back in reseated it better. Not sure but the MEI manual gave me a lot of insight to this bill validator.

Thanks again to all especially Sunrise Side (Tim) and RB (Ron)!
