AC Coin & Slot game converted to S+
« on: October 23, 2014, 02:42:57 PM »
I bought my first slot and from what I can tell, it's an AC Coin and Slot "Monster Match" game that's in an IGT cabinet (model 9640030R). The payout is very stingy for home use and I've read about the tournament chips and higher % payout chips. Are there any chipsets for this machine that can increase the payouts?

If not, what can I do to convert this to an IGT S+ game? Can an IGT chipset be installed along with an IGT kit to convert it? Attached are pics and let me know if any other info is needed, like specific chip info or whatever.

Thanks!

Rick

Labels on a few chips are "Slotto" and "731". The 731 corresponds to the game ID when I enter Test Mode #4.

There's no top to the machine?  I've never seen that, but it looks like a plain old S+ to me.  SP731 is a regular S+ chip.  I can't tell what the number for the reel chip is.  In a regular S+ on the page 4 display it should look like the pictures posted on the FAQ, link provided below.  The display cycles between the two numbers, does it do that on your machine?

Nope, no round top for the cabinet, which works better for me in the space I have the game placed.

So earlier today I tried to get the code from test mode and this is what happens:

1915 and 0 alternately flash and 0731 stays solid. The 731 matches up with a label on a chip on the MPU too.

So in my research, it seems that this is an IGT board and that if I buy a kit that includes the reels, roms and glass, that I should be good to go.

What is a well liked S+ game kit that can accept the tournament roms for some fun home use?

This is a 3 reel, 3 coin setup right now.

Thanks!

AC coin conversions will not give the reel chip number in the page 4 test. Yes you can replace the reel chip with a S-plus reel chip and matching strips and glass. The machine you have is a rare version without a top box, but they did exist. Problem is you need to find a kit that has all the payout info on one glass you can stick in as the belly glass.
There a a bunch to chose from. The tournament chips are a limited few though. The IGT Bible lists them on the main page lower right. http://www.newlifegames.net/igtbible/

One of our Ohio members lists these type of machines on eBay occasionally and they used to pop up on the old site now and again. I think it was said that they were used on cruise ships and made without top boxes for weight and space considerations. The ones I've seen where common titles like Double Diamond and such.

Or I'm guessing, but it sounds right to me...

I converted several of the original AC coin machines - they had an animated large RT .

the top box - to large for IGT RT glass - hence - the machine in this post - they would just take it off and make a low boy - so it is NOT RARE - myself I found RT boxes to fit.
the reels - they ac coin use wide reels - so you have to change the reels AND the tray.
the reel and belly glass - have to be change obviously to match the game you choose.
there were some wiring changes in the MPU box - these were obvious - jumpers.
after all that I found some AC  ss

Thanks for all the replies and great info. Yes, these reels are indeed a bit wider than the IGT reels.

I happened to be within a few miles of the warehouse today, so I stopped in and found a Williams Big Bang Piggy Bankin', which looked to be in good shape. But instead I just opted to get the only IGT S+ machine in there. The other 4 slots were all AC Coin and Slot models like the one I bought, just different themes.

I bought a Triple Diamond for $300 and will just sell the Monster Match instead. This has the SS4778 reel chip and SP731 game chip. Looks like I can use the Triple Diamond tournament chip even though it is for a 3cm and mine is a 2cm. Payouts will match but if I use the Max Bet button, it will bet 3 coins instead of 2.

If I'm wrong, please correct me.
