S 2000 Issues
« on: September 23, 2024, 10:20:54 AM »
I just bought a blazing 7s  S 2000 (my first machine)

Set up plugged in bill validator worked but would not accept new bills but older bills worked fine. I assumed I could send in and have reprogrammed or switch out later to accept new bills. Accepts quarters, I put quarter in coin comparitor and works good it will not pay out quarters and would eventually like to get that switched I assume it is in programming (need to get working before I worry about this). Used machine for 30 minutes or so and went into reel tilt used reset key and back to normal. Continued playing and did it again and began going into reel tilt more often. Long story short researched issues and codes and come to conclusion it was door optics or MPU. Removed green back up battery on mother board. Could see where it had just started leaking a small amount once removed cleaned up very small amount of localized corrosion at battery location. Next replaced coin cell battery on MPU someone had installed coin cell battery holder before so changing out battery was simple, (also checked voltage of new coin cell battery 3.2 v). Then performed door optic bypass with info and schematic from one of new life forums. Fired up machine and now has door open MB and bill validator open code. Checked cash box validator door etc all good. Upon close inspection someone has bypassed bill validator door switch before me. Switch is there but no wires inspected back of cash box housing and wires removed and found the wires tied together to bypass and checked to ensure a good connection. I have tried key reset turning off and on rechecking all connections etc and still have these two codes. - Door open MB and bill validator open code. Can't get either one resolved. Does anyone have any suggestion or do I need to find a New MPU board?

Chances are the traces near the Varta battery you removed were ready to fail and you helped them along. I see it often.
It can be repaired.
I Repair IGT 50X, 1270, 039, 044, and S+ MPU's. Contact me at slots@lookelectronics.com for more information.

Dajohn  Best to send your board in to Lookes so you can rule out any problems that you may have from the leaky battery. John is the best.
