Bally Alpha 2 pro 22/32 monitor issue
« on: September 24, 2024, 02:15:49 PM »
I purchased a Bally Alpha Pro 2 22/32 about two months ago.  When I got the machine the top (32") monitor was a little dim at the very top of the screen.  After a day or two the monitor would go black.  After trying two different video cards, different cables and the seller even sent me another monitor I am still having the same issue.  When playing a game on it the touch screen still works it's just black.  If I unplug the monitor and plug it back in at the CPU it will come on for a split second the go black again. The green light is on the top monitor in the back. The company I purchased it thru has been extremely helpful but I feel bad having them sending out parts that don't seem to fix the issue.  Anyone have any ideas on what it could possibly be?  I can share a video or photos if need be.

can you plug in a laptop to the monitor?  Does it work?

I ordered some new cables and will try this when they come in.  Thank you!

Just an update here.  Plugged in laptop and couldn't get anything to display on the monitor.  The laptop did show that it saw a second screen.  I had bought it from one of the well known companies on here and long story short the CPU back to them and they determined it was the video card.  The crazy thing is they had sent me a video card and I also bought one and was having same problem.  Unit is supposed to be shopping back to me so we shall see.

The backlight is probably the issue.  If the monitor has a separate power supply, I would look for bulging caps and replace them.  If power is provided by the Cabinet's power supplies, then it is most likely the inverter.  Since your PC sees the monitor when connected, it means that the A/D board is working right.  I bet if you shine a flashlight on the monitor when there's supposed to be an image, you would see the image's "shadow."

They sent me a replacement monitor and did the same thing   like I said I sent them the MPU and they had the same problem and replaced the video card and said it's working now   I should know tomorrow as it was shipped overnight for Saturday delivery.
