S+ Coins In
« on: April 18, 2015, 12:26:39 PM »
recently picked up a qtr, 3 coin, Hot pepper, S+..................drop coins in, recognizes all coins inserted, plays aok........ISSUE - coins don't drop to hopper or front tray.....they all go to "overflow" ( don't really know what it's called, its the chute that goes to hole in bottom plate next to hopper).....have swapped with known good coin comparitor, and the comparitor bracket with the lower coin optics board, solenoid, etc........Same Results

Is your hopper too full? If the coins are up against the sensor it will put coins to the overflow.

There is a mechanical part called a coin diverter on the inside of the main door, below the coin comparitor, it sends the coins to the overflow area instead of the hopper when the machine believes the hopper is full. Your diverter may be stuck, or like Shaggy said the hopper-full sensor may be telling the machine it is full even if it isn't. Could have a pinched sensor wire on the hopper, or bad sensor. Carefully check the hopper area for something amiss. Also you can move the coin diverter by hand, it is below the coin comparator.

If you post a picture of your hopper and the inside of your main door we might be able to see something wrong.

comparing working & non working machine with the front belly glass door open only....... upon start up right after the reels spin in the reverse order the solenoid for the diverter is activating, opening the flapper to steer coins to overflow.......solenoid does not activate after start up in the working machine........so I think as you stated something is telling the system its in overflow.........think i will start following wires.....UPDATE..........this is for home use. I unplugged the 2 wire connector to the coin diverter solenoid and the unit works AOK......I am just going to leave it as is............hopper pays out fine and I have limited # of coins that I play with so the risk of overflow does not exist....Thanks for Help !!!

I wanted to tell you I have a machine (not an IGT) but whenever it booted up the solenoid energized and opened the chute. Mine was soldered on so I just cut one wire, no problem anymore. Mine are home use too and I don't have a hole for the coins to fall through. Glad you got it going....Good job and enjoy!
