Help with bad boards
« on: March 24, 2015, 06:35:18 AM »
The machine I bought also include/came with a "bad" V7000 and a "bad" v7200 board.  I have no idea what is wrong with them and seeking help on how to find out what could be the issue.  Would this be a good idea?

1. Test battery on each board to make sure they are good 3.2V or better?

2. Make sure jumper on battery is set correct?

3. Put in mains (I have both 23 and 24s) - one better then other to try?

4. The extra G0/G1 chips say 2MB on them - put them in

5. Put in Clear Chip P10 (no other P chips or do I need at least one game on the board)

6. DIPSW1 7 and 8 on

7. Put in board

8. Turn machine on

Does this make sense and if so what would I look for on power up?

Thank you

I would back up all the software on the good board then put it on one of the bad ones and try it. If you get a safe ram error then replace battery and clear.

Thanks for the reply.  Finally got a multimeter and the batteries on the two other boards were below 1V plus the spare that came with the machine was also dead.  Got some new batteries and one of the boards is back in operation.  The other one is going to take more work having trouble getting battery off.

Unscrew the board from the tray and desolder from the back side of the board. It should not be to difficult.

Thank you for the idea.  Was able to cut the battery free and wire up a new one to test the board and it seems to be working fine so far.

Will now move onto working on soldering in the battery holders so I can change the batteries as needed.
