Can't clear 46 code off Bally 5000+ How do I reset tilts?
« on: July 13, 2016, 03:54:02 PM »
Can anyone assist with some Bally 5000+ instruction? I had to send my MPU out to Larry at K-Lar and he fixed a few bad traces and got it running for me, but now I am stuck. When the unit is turned on I get a 52 code and a 46 code right now (along with reels in slow tilt spin). If I just turn the reset key on the side (with door open), the reels stop but I immediately go to the bookkeeping menus and if I let it finish and go back to game mode it still has the 46 tilt and nothing changes.
Am I resetting the reel tilt correctly or what am I missing?
The original tilt was a 45 code that I could not get rid of and pulled the reels, cleaned them up and reseated connectors, and now I have a 46 but not sure what to do next. This thing is crazy.

BTW, I have a new aftermarket power supply in here (MeanWell RQ-85D) and hope that may not be the cause, but the original black unit does not function correctly right now.

Have you tried clearing it?

In most cases you can pull the I/O board, below the computer board, out of it's backplane connections (slide it out part way). Turn on the machine and press the test button quickly.

The MPU board should clear. If that doesn't work you will have to do a jumper clear after you plug the I/O board back in.

Call Larry and he can walk you through it.

The board cleared and worked fine in our shop. You may have a reel board issue but to early to tell. Try the clear first.

Got it! Yeah, had to do a little of everything I guess. I think the Reel connectors were a bit oxidized and then resetting it a couple of times it finally is behaving. Thanks a lot!!

BTW, you happen to know where on the coin comparitor i would adjust to avoid the 24 - reverse coin error. I put in a token as a coin in the comparitor and maybe every 10 coins it gives me a 24 code.

That is usually caused by the coin gap being to wide. If you hold the coin up into the bottom of the comparator and move it left to right there should not be much allowable movement. If there is there is a metal guide you can adjust by loosening it's screw and sliding it closer to the coin then tightening the screw to remove any left to right slop.
