Sounds like a FutureLogic GEN 2 printer ?
Pull the printer all the way out to the end of it's travel then examine the rear area of the printer base mount (the slide which the printer is mounted to). Be sure there is no debris or anything back there that could keep the printer from fully seating. Also look to see if there is a protruding plastic post in the left rear corner as in the attached photo. This base is all plastic and sometimes this post gets broken off. When the printer is pushed all the way in, this post protrudes into a hole in rear of the printer housing and trips a sensor. This is the sensor which indicates if the printer drawer is open or closed.
If you find this post is broken off, it will need to repaired or replaced. You could attempt to glue it back. In my case for a temporary fix I used a small amount of rubber cement and temporarily glued the post into the hole of the printer housing. A new base costs $8.68 and is in stock at Patriot Gaming & Electronics p/n 370-00015-100 (for gen 2 printer)
