IGT S slot, no sounds & hopper pays out on every win

Other than the volume control on top of the main board, is there a setting that needs to be changed in order to get sound? Also is there a setting where I can get my wins to go to the credit meter & not drop coins on every win. Thanks

Is this an "S" slot, or an S+.  (your post title says "S").

If it is an S+ machine the settings you have available will depend on the SP chip on the mpu board. Once you know the SP chip number you can get specific advice for your hopper, credit and payout settings.

You can look at the label on the SP chip to see what its number is, or you can have the machine tell you the SP and SS chip numbers by following this easy process:

Also, sometimes speakers are bad, or the wiring to the speaker is broken or disconnected. And the volume control on the mpu may be broken, it should have "stops" at each end of travel, unless someone damaged it. If they over-rotate the control it can break or bend the wiper arm and then you'll have no sound.

ok, someone familiar with S slots will need to help with your question about setting payouts to go to credits. I believe that there is a socketed eprom chip on the mpu board called an "RS" chip and it has a number that might be helpful to someone giving advice, but not sure about that.

Does the mpu board have a dipswitch? If so there may be a dipswitch setting for sound.

Will the game & reel chips from an S+ Double Diamond machine be the reason I'm not getting sounds frim this S machine? That's the chips I have in it now, or are there different game & reel chips I would need for the S model?

S slots do not use SS and SP chips like s+ slots, they use just one RS chip instead.

On the S slot you have to turn on the cashout switch before you get a win, if the cashout switch is lit the wins go to credits.

The RS chip is probably the problem then, when I got this machine it was missing the CPU board so I put a regular S plus board in it, do I need to get another S board or can I just add an RS chip to the one I have in the machine now?

S and S+ MPU boards are not interchangeable.  S MPUs have two wiring harnesses that plug into the top.  S slot machines do not have a motherboard like the S+ does.

Pictures have to be less than 1MB to post.  You'll have to resize it so it will meet that requirement.

Can you post a picture of the board? If it is an S I will send you a link to a bunch of RS chips that are for sale. I also have an S and I spent many hours searching for these chips. Also make sure your DIP settings are in the right position. And then you need to get into the settings on your machine. There is a ton of usefull info in the downloads section that is available to contributing members. You will find something that will guide you through the settings.
